The Lane County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on the proposed statewide freight <br />routes on October 13, 2004 (the record was held open until October 20, 2004). On October 14, 2004, <br />the Metropolitan Policy Committee (MPC) discussed the freight route designations and sent a letter to <br />ODOT requesting more time to consider the issue (the comment period has since been extended until <br />January 7, 2005). The Lane County Board of Commissioners again discussed the issue on October 20, <br />2004, and subsequently sent two letters of comments and questions to the county legislative delegation <br />and the OTC on October 27, 2004. <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />Relevant objectives and policies from TransPlan include: <br /> <br />Objective #1: Accessibility and Mobility - Provide adequate levels of accessibility and mobility for <br />the efficient movement of people, goods, and services within the region. <br /> <br />Objective #4: Economic Vitality - Support transportation strategies that improve the economic vitality <br />of the region and enhance economic opportunity. <br /> <br />Transportation System Improvements: System-Wide Policy #2: Intermodal Connectivity - <br />Develop or promote intermodal linkages for connectivity and ease of transfer among all transportation <br />modes. <br /> <br />Transportation System Improvements: Goods Movement Policy #1: Freight Efficiency - Support <br />reasonable and reliable travel times for freight/goods movement in the Eugene-Springfield region. <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br />Not applicable. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATION <br />Not applicable. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION <br />Not applicable. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />A.
