Anthropogenic hazards, such as hazardous materia~ releases, are possible nearby or <br />downwind from fixed site concentrations (e.g., industrial sites) as well as along <br />transportation corridors from truck or railroad accidents. <br /> <br />Terrorist incidents or other deliberate malevolent actions by vandals, disturbed <br />individuals, employees or members of organized groups could affect the <br />Eugene/Springfield Metro Area <br /> <br />In summary, there are many hazards which affect all or large portions of the <br />Eugene/Springfield Metro Area. <br /> <br />The remaining chapters of this mitigation plan include the following. <br /> <br />Chapter 2 provides a brief community profile for the Eugene/Springfield Metro Area. <br /> <br />Chapter 3 documents the community involvement and public process involved in <br />developing this mitigation plan. <br /> <br />Chapter 4 outlines the mitigation plan goals, mitigation strategies, and action items. <br /> <br />Chapter 5 documents the formal process of plan adoption, implementation, and <br />maintenance. <br /> <br />Chapters 6 through 15 cover each of the major hazards addressed in this mitigation <br />plan, including: floods, winter storms, landslides, wildland/urban interface fires, <br />earthquakes, volcanic hazards, dam safety,, disruption of utility and transportation <br />systems, hazmat incidents, and terrorism. <br /> <br />The Appendix includes example mitigation projects for flood and earthquake hazards. <br /> <br />Public Review Draft August 6, 2004 1-15 <br /> <br /> <br />
