Recruitment of new members was accomplished through direct <br /> mailing of invitations and personal contacts. <br /> <br /> b. Use of the Disaster Operations Task Team in Eugene and the <br /> Emergency Management Committee in Springfield. Each of these <br /> committees has representatives from Police, Fire/EMS, Public Works <br /> and the Planning/Development Departments. <br /> <br /> c. These committees meet monthly, and updates and changes to the <br /> Plan have been provided to the committees on an ongoing basis. <br /> <br /> 3. In December of 2003, a public meeting was held to discuss natural hazard <br /> mitigation planning. <br /> <br /> a. Notification of this meeting was issued by invitation to a list of <br /> individual stakeholders, which included local utility companies, real <br /> estate and development interests, Army Corps of Engineers, American <br /> Red Cross, Williams Northwest Pipeline, Rainbow Water District, Lane <br /> Council of Governments, Eugene Water and Electric Board and staff <br /> from the Cities of Eugene and Springfield. <br /> <br /> b. The agenda for the meeting included <br /> <br /> i. An overview of hazard planning, presented by Kenneth Goettel <br /> of Goettel & Associates Inc., <br /> <br /> ii. Identification of problems caused by natural hazards in the <br /> Eugene/Springfield Metro Area, and <br /> <br /> iii. Potential solutions to the identified problems. <br /> <br /> c. The meeting was attended by 15 of the various representatives invited <br /> to the meeting. <br /> <br /> 4. Final review and comments from City staff and Utility Boards. <br /> <br /> a. Two meetings were held--June 14, 2004 and July 14, 2004-with staff <br /> from the Cities of Eugene and Springfield.
