D. Railroad Permit <br />Any work crossing (above or below ground) or adjacent to railroad property requires a <br />permit from the affected railroad company. <br />E. Fill Permit <br />A PEPI permit does not authorize grading/fill activity on private property. It is the <br />applicant's responsibility to verify and obtain all necessary grading/fill permits through <br />Building and Permit Services at the Permit Information Center before starting any <br />construction outside of the public -rights of -way and easements. <br />F. Tree Removal Permit <br />A Tree Removal Permit may be required for work near street trees or removal of a tree <br />on private property. Removal of more than 30 percent of the critical root zone of a street <br />tree constitutes a felling and requires a permit. Authorization for planned, unavoidable <br />streettree removal is typically approved through the PEPI permit. Unanticipated technical <br />fellings or removals requires a separate street tree removal permit and/or may be subject <br />to penalties as violations of Chapter 6.300. Replacement of a street tree or payment of its <br />appraised value is required under the PEPI, as determined by the Urban Forester. See <br />Appendix D for applicable regulations. Trees shall be delineated on the CSMP; refer to <br />Section 3 for plan requirements. <br />G. Electric Permit <br />An Electrical Permit is required from Building Permit Services at the Permit and <br />Information Center for all traffic signal and street illumination work. The electrical <br />Contractor is responsible for obtaining the permit after the construction plans are <br />approved. <br />4.12 CONTRACTOR AND CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE <br />Contractor: The applicant (Owner/Developer) shall submit a copy of their contract with a <br />qualified Contractor. If the Contractor is not known by the City Engineer pre -qualification <br />screening may be required: <br />Construction Schedule in accordance with the Standard Specifications shall be submitted <br />before the construction permit is issued. <br />Public Improvement Design Standards Manual, 2016 Page 4-13 <br />
