<br />Design Standard for Minimum Sidewalk Width <br />At its last meeting the Crest Drive Community Team also reached consensus on the following <br />with regard to minimum sidewalk width: <br /> <br />The CDCT requests that City Council revise the minimum sidewalk width standard in the <br />Crest Drive neighborhood from five feet to four feet. <br /> <br />The CDCT believes that a sidewalk width of four feet better meets the themes and values <br />identified as part of the context sensitive solutions process. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br /> <br />Transplan Goal #2: Transportation System Characteristics <br /> <br />Enhance the Eugene-Springfield metropolitan area’s quality of life and economic opportunity by <br />providing a transportation system that is: <br /> <br />a.Balanced <br /> <br />b.Accessible, <br /> <br />c.Efficient, <br /> <br />d.Safe, <br /> <br />e.Interconnected, <br /> <br />f.Environmentally responsible, <br /> <br />g.Supportive of responsible and sustainable development, <br /> <br />h.Responsive to community needs and neighborhood impacts, and <br /> i. Economically viable and financially stable. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br /> <br />The Council may: <br /> <br />1.Direct the City Manager to hold a public hearing on February 19, 2008 on the recommended <br />design for Crest Drive, Storey Boulevard and Friendly Street. <br /> <br />2.Direct the City Manager to hold a public hearing on February 19, 2008 on reducing the <br />minimum sidewalk width design standard from five feet to four feet in the Crest Drive area. <br /> <br />3.Take no action. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION <br />Direct the City Manager to hold a public hearing on the recommended design for Crest Drive, <br />Storey Boulevard and Friendly Street and a public hearing on reducing the minimum sidewalk <br />width design standard from five feet to four feet in the Crest Drive area. <br /> <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION <br /> <br />Move to direct the City Manager to hold a public hearing on February 19, 2008 on the <br />recommended design for Crest Drive, Storey Boulevard and Friendly Street and a public hearing on <br />February 19, 2008 on reducing the minimum sidewalk width design standard from five feet to four <br />feet in the Crest Drive area. <br /> F:\CMO\2008 Council Agendas\M080123\S080123B.doc <br /> <br />
