It will benefit patrons by
providing easy access to all the information they need when planning a trip or traveling to or from
Eugene.

The site features a fare-finder search engine that seeks out the lowest ticket prices available. A flight-
tracker function allows passengers to see the most current flight information. Passengers can also set up
a free account to access advanced tracking options, like email or cell phone alerts and real-time flight
tracking maps. Weekly flight promotions by airlines serving Eugene will also be featured on the site.

Long-term plans for the site include the addition of an e-commerce function that will allow passengers to
purchase tickets directly from the www.flyEUG.com website.

The City of Eugene/Airport website pages will be maintained with current flight information in addition to
all other aspects of aviation related activities at the Eugene Airport. For more information contact
Cathryn Stephens, marketing and public relations director for the Eugene Airport, 682-5430, or email:
cathryn.e.stephens@ci.eugene.or.us .

New Heart Monitors In Service
The Fire & EMS Department has placed into service new cardiac monitors on all the front-line Fire &
EMS apparatus (engines, trucks, and ambulances). These new cardiac monitors were funded by a
federal grant with a 20% match from Eugene Telecomm funds. The new monitors are state-of-the-art
cardiac monitoring/defibrillating devices. Unlike the old monitor/defibrillators, the new ones are all
standardized. Before, only the medic units had the capacity to complete a 12-lead EKG; now every
apparatus has this capacity. The ability to complete a 12-lead is crucial in the treatment of patients with
chest pain.

The information that is gathered can be transmitted from the field to the hospital, where it is used to fast-
track patients to the coronary artery catheterization lab. With these new machines, the engine or truck
company that arrives first on scene can get a tracing prior to the arrival of a medic unit. "Time is
muscle," as we say in the business; the more time a coronary artery is blocked, the more heart muscle is
damaged. For additional information regarding the City's new heart monitors, please contact EMS Chief
JoAnna Kamppi at 682-7104.

Summer Reading for Kids and Teens at Eugene Public Library
Ready for a change?
