I <br />214 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 8.7,61 <br />An Ordinance regulating the parking of vehicles (including bicycles) upon <br />the streets of the City of Eugen e, including parking meter regulations, and <br />prescribing penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing all ordinances <br />or parts of ordinances in so far as they are in conflict herewith, and declaring <br />an emergency. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section=~.1. (a) The term "street" as used in this ordinance shall apply to <br />all that part of the public highway, bridge or alley intended for the public x <br />use of vehicles or street cars and generally known as the roadway. <br />(b) The term "curb" shall mean the extreme edge of the traveled <br />portion of the street or roadway. <br />(c) The term "vehicle" shall mean every mechanical device by <br />which persons or property are transported over the streets and alleys of the <br />City of Eugene, including bicycles. <br />(d) The term "emergency vehicle" shall mean ambulance, fire, <br />police, public service emergency and United States mail vehicles while engaged <br />in emergency business. <br />(e) The term "driver" shall mean the rider, driver or leader of <br />a horse or horses, or any person who pushes or propels a vehicle upon the streets. <br />(f) The term "park" or "parked" shall mean and apply to arty <br />standing vehicle, and the term "double park'r or "double parked" shall mean and <br />apply to any standing vehicle where the shortest distance from any part of said <br />vehicle t;~the curbing on the side of the street on which said vehicle is standing <br />is more than three feet. <br />Section 2. All vehicles parked or left standing on any street or alley in <br />the City of Eugene, except upon the streets or alleys where angle parking is <br />expressly permitted under the provisions of this ordinance, shall be parked <br />parallel to the curb and not more than six inches distant therefrom and not <br />within a distance of three feet from any other vehicle in front or behind thereof, <br />and all parking being done with a view to economy of space, all vehicles shall <br />draw up to a distance of three feet from the nearest vehicle, and in no other <br />manner, excepting where angle parking is permitted, and excepting the space <br />opposite to the vehicle entrance to any residence property is reserved to the <br />owner or occupant of said property, and excepting further all marked areas for <br />special uses. <br />Section 3. It shall be unlawful for the driver of any person or persons to <br />park or leave standing any vehicle in anyplace upon the streets of Eugene other <br />than between curb or curb lines and as provided in this ordinance and/or marked <br />upon the streets themselves. <br />Section 4.
