2 ~'7 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE P10. 8802 <br />An ordinance providing for the control of rats and mice in the City <br />of Eugene. <br />THE CITY OF EUGrT~ DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLO`d~S: <br /> <br /> <br />Section 1. Every building or other structure of any and every character 1 <br />I <br />whatsoever, other than.residen~s;, in which any substance upon which rats and <br />mice:can feed is stored or kept, shall .be rat and rodent proofed, either key '. <br />I <br />concrete or metal or some equally impermeable material, so as to effectually <br />exclude rats or mice, whether said buildins, rests upon a basement or other ~ <br />supports. <br />Section II. All food and feed kept within the City of Eugene for I <br />feeding chickens, horses, mules, cows, goats pigs or other domestic animals 1 <br />shall be kept and s~tred either in a rat proofed building or rooms, or• in rat <br />i <br />proof containers. <br />Section III: All garbage or refuse consisting of waste material upon <br />which rats or mice may feed still be placed in covered rat-proof containers of <br />U <br />a type prescribed by the health officers of the city, until collected by ~ar- <br />bage haulers. <br />Section IV. That all premises, improved or unimproved and all open lots, <br />areas, streets, sidewalks alleys and other areas in the City of Eugene, shall <br />be kept clean and free from all rubbish, as well-as loose material that might <br />serve as a harbor for rats and mice; and all lumber, boxes, barells and loose <br />,. <br />iron, and any material that may habor rats shall be placed upon supports in <br />~~wuch a manner as to provide no refuge for rats and mice. <br />Section V. Tn all residences and upon all residential properties, ~ <br />availa~?le food for rats and mice shall be kept in containers that are rat- <br />. <br />proof, and no food material of any kind, v~~aste or otherwise shall be allowed <br />where rats and mice can have acess to it. <br />- i <br />Section'IV. Whenever it shall come to the attention of the health officer <br />- ~ <br />of the City of Eugene that any of the foregoing regulations are not being ~ <br />observed, or that any building, structure or premises, or portion thereof, in <br />the City is infested with rats and mice, or has rats and or mice therein or ~ <br />thereunder, the said Health Officer or his representative is hereby authorized <br />and ~owered to.serve the owner, or the person, firm or corporation responsible <br />for the mai~,nence thereof with a notice in writing, ordering such person, firm <br />or corporation to exterminate or eleminate all such rats and mice within thirty <br />days from the date of such notice. Failure to comply with the requirements of <br />such notice shall be a violation of this ordinance and shall subject such person, <br />firm or corporation, to the penalties hereinafter provided. <br /> <br />
