29s <br />Section VII. All improvements, repairs, construction and maintenence <br />of any building of structure, or any equipment or fixtures therein shall <br />~ comply with the terms of this ordinance. - <br />~ Section VIII. That the City Health Office is hereby authorized and - <br />I <br />empowered together with any representative or deputy to make inspection of <br />r <br />exterior and interior and underneath any building or structure, or any pre- <br />i <br />wises in the City and it shall be unlawful for any owner or person in charge <br />of such building, structure or premises to fail to permit such inspection, <br />and punishable as a violation of this ordinance. <br />Section IX. That from and after the passage of this ordinance it shall <br />be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation tenah#~ or person in charge of <br />I <br />any building, structure or premises in the City to allow-any conditions to <br />I ~~-~, <br />~ exist thereon or therein, which a~ract or are likely to attract, feed, or <br />harbor rats or mice. <br />Section X. Any person, firm or corporation, who shall violate the <br />i <br />I <br />terms of this ordinance, or any of the provisions herein, shall be deemed <br />guilty, upon conviction before the City Recorder or Municipal Judge, and shall <br />be punished by a fine not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars and may be imprisoned <br />in the City Jail .for one day for each tv~o dollars of the fine unpaid. <br />Section XI. All ordinance and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith <br />be and the same are hereby repealed. <br />Section XII. If any provision of this ordinance or the application <br />thereof to any person or circumstances shall be held invalid, the remainder <br />of the ordinances, and the application of the remainder shall continue un- <br />impaired. <br />- Section XIII. Whereas rats and mice are destroying property, spreading <br />infection and contagion, and constitute a menace to the health and safety of <br />the residents of Eugene, an emergency is declared to exist, and it is declared <br />necessary for the immediate. preservation of the peace,~health and safety of <br />the city that this ordinance take effect immediately upon its passage by the <br />Common Council and approval by the ldiayor. <br />Passed by the Common Council <br />this 24th day of July, 1944. <br />/d/ John Fields <br />recorder pro tem <br />Approved by the Mayor on <br />this 25th day of July, 1944 <br />/s/ Elisha Large <br />MMayor <br /> <br />R~ - <br />~~, <br />.~~ <br /> <br />
