<br />3O1 <br />._ ~.:SECTION~22. Nothing in the ordinance contained shall~..be construed to <br />apply to any eleemosynary, religious, benevolent or charitable association <br />or to any student fraternity or soroity house or dormitories conducted at or <br />neat the University Of Oregon. <br />SECTION 23. It shall be the duty of each person to whom a license is <br />issued t~ comply with the rules and regulations of this Ordinance and the <br />directions of the Chief of Police, Chief of the Fire Department, the Building <br />Inspector and the City Health Officer. Such rules and regulations shall be <br />issued to all licenses by the City Recorder. Failure to comply with said <br />rules and regulations shall be punishable in the same manner as fialure to <br />comply with other portions of this ordinance. <br />SECTION 24. All Ordinance. and parts of ordinance in conflict herewith <br />are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 25. Whereas, hotels, rooming houses and lodging houses are <br />operated in the City of Eugene that are not complying with the fire, hazard, <br />building and sanitary regulations of the City of Eugene, and that they con- <br />stitue a menace and a danger to lives and property, an emergency is declared <br />to exist and it is ereby~declared that it is necessary for the immediate <br />preservation of the peace, health and safety of the City of Eugene that this <br />ordinance take effect immediately upon its passage by the Common Council and <br />its approval by the Mayor, and it is so ordered. <br />Passed by the Common Council <br />this 24th day' of July, 1944 <br />/s/ John Fields <br />recorder pro tem <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />26th day of July, 1944. <br />/s/ Elisha Isrge _ <br />Mayor <br />
