<br />SECTIoN 10. No person to whot~
<br />and operate' a hotel, rooming house or
<br />barter, exchange or otherwise dispose
<br />liquors, or suffer any such liquor. or
<br />of. therein, except as provided by the

<br />SECTION 11. Every person to whom a license shall have been issed to
<br />conduct a hotel, rooming house, or lodging house shall atall time keep a
<br />standard hotel register in which shall be inscribed•the anmes of all guests
<br />or persons renting or occupying rooms in such house, which register shall be
<br />signed by the persons renting the room or rooms. Such registration must be
<br />made, and after the name or names are inscribed or registered the manager_of
<br />the house, or his agent shall write the number of the room or rooms which
<br />siad guest or person is to occupy, together with the time when such room is
<br />rented. All of which shall be done before such person is permitted to occupy
<br />such room or rooms. Such register shall be at all time•open to inspection
<br />by any guest of the house wherein such register is kept, and to any executive
<br />or peace officer of the City of Eugene, or of the State of Oregon.
<br />SECTION 12. It shall be unlawful for any person to write or cause
<br />to be written in any hotel register any other or s~ifferent name than the true
<br />name of such person, or the name~by which such person is generally known.
<br />Section 13, .No room or rooms shall be assigned to two persons of the
<br />opposite sex, except in cases of children accompanied by parents or guardian
<br />unless such persons shall be registered as husbband anci wife.
<br />SECTION 14. It shall be unlawful fox any person to whom a license
<br />has been issued as provided in this Ordinance to rent or permit to be occupied
<br />any room in the hotel, rooming house or lodging house to which such permit
<br />relates, to persons of the opposite sex, one of whom is a msner, unless such
<br />persons have bona fide baggage er ahe vouched for as husband and wife by a
<br />reputable person of the City of Eugene, or by permission of a member of the
<br />Police force or Police Committee of the Council.
<br />SECTION 1;5. Any person to whom a license shall have been issued as
<br />provided in this ordinance, shall cuase each sleeping room or apartment in
<br />such house to which such license relates, to be numbered in a plain and con-
<br />spicuous manner, the number t.:~ be placed on the outside of the door to such
<br />room, and no two such doors shall bear the same number.
<br />SECTION 16 Where a license shall have been issued to any copartner-
<br />ship, corporation, or association to conduct a hotel or rooming house or
<br />lodging house; any person having charge, management or control of such hotel,
<br />rooming house, or lodging house, as well as the owner or proprietor, shall be
<br />liable to prosecution for- any violation of the provisions of this ordinance,
<br />or the rules and regulations accompanying this Ordinance.
<br />SECTION 17. For the purpose of~determining the liability of any per-
<br />son or persons to prosecutions for violating any of the provisions of this
<br />ordinance, rules and regulations, it shall be sufficient to show that such
<br />perons was at the time of the act of violation compalined, of, the person in
<br />actual charge, management or control of the house in which such act is
<br />alleged to have been committed.
<br />SECTION l8. The City Recorder of the City of Eugene shall keep and
<br />indexed record of licenses issued pursuant to the provisions of this Ord=
<br />finance, together with a record of convictions for violations of the provisions
<br />of this ordinance.
<br />SECTION 19. Any person violation any of the provisions of this ord-
<br />inance upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than
<br />Two Hundred 0200.00) dollars and costs, and in defai~~:t of the' payment of
<br />such-fine, to be imprisoned in the City Jail one day for each X2.00 of such
<br />fine.
<br />SEC'PION 20. 'The City Recorder shall report to the Common Council the
<br />prosec~.tion or conviction of any person to whom a license has been issued, and
<br />the Common Council may thereupon revoke and terminate the license so issued
<br />to.such person.
<br />Section 21. Tn addition to the remedies providdd for herein, it shall
<br />be the duty of the Chief of Police whenever a hotel, rooming house or lodging
<br />house shall be operating without a license and had no application pending, to
<br />give the person in charge a written notice to close said place and .evict all
<br />tenants therefrom within five days from such notice, and at the expiration of
<br />such within five days frost such petiod the Chief of Police shall summarily
<br />close the offending hotel, rooming house or lodging house and not perrriit the
<br />same to be opperated further.
