<br />the materials for such fire, or autorize any such fire to be kindled or maintained
<br />on or in any street, alley, road, land or public grounds or upon any private lot, unless
<br />' a ±nrritten permit so to do shall. first have been secured from the Bureau of Fire Prevention.
<br />2102 No person sha]_1 detiosit ashes, smouldering coal or embers, greasy or oily
<br />substances or other matters liable ro create spontaneous ignition within ten feet of a,ny
<br />wooden or plastered wall, partition, fence, floor, side~~a].k, lur.~ber, hay, shavings,
<br />rubbish or other combustible receptacles. Such recepta.c].es, unless resting on a, non-
<br />combustible forror or on the Bound outside the building, must be placed an non-combustible
<br />stands, and in every case must be kept at least tiro feet away from any combustible vrall
<br />or iartition. -
<br />2193 No person shall. permit to remain upon any roof or in any court, yard, vacant
<br />lc:t or open space, any acru_nmulation of vraste pager, hay, grass, straw, weeds, litter or
<br />combustible or fla.mma.ble waste or rubbish of a.ny kind. Al]. we=ds, grass, vines or other
<br />gro~•rth, +shen same endangers property, or is liable to be fir. ed, shall be cut dotirn and.
<br />removed by the otfrrer or occupant of the property it is on.
<br />210 No person making, using storing• or having ch:.f~ge or control of any shavings,
<br />excelsior., rubbish sacks, bags, litter, hay, straUr or combustible trash, waste or fragments
<br />shal]. fail., neglect or. refuse at the close of each day to cause all such material which
<br />is not compactly baled a.nd st.cked in an orderly manner to be removed from the premises
<br />or stored in suitable vaults or in metal or metal lined covered receptacles or bins.
<br />The Chief of the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall require suitable baling presses to be
<br />installed in stores, apartment buildings, factories and simila.,r places +rrhere accumulations
<br />of paper and waste materials are not removed. a.t least every second day.
<br />2105 The storage of empty packing cases, boxes, barrels or other similar combustible
<br />containers is fog°bid.den i•~ithout a permit exceot in the open. Provided., ho+r~ev?r, that no
<br />permit shall be required for. t're storage +r~ithin a manufacturing or other establishment
<br />of sufficient oacking cases, boxes barrels o.r other similar contairers•to properly carry
<br />on its opPraticns, but such storage shah. be orderly and not so located a.s to endanger exit
<br />from the building. Storage in the open of packing cases, bo xes, barrels or other sinila.r
<br />~eombustible containers shall not be more than twenty feet in height, and shall be at least
<br />fifty feet from the nearest '~uil.din~•. A]_]. such storage shall be in a compact and orderly
<br />manner.
<br />2106 Cotton batting, straw, dry vines, leaves, trees celluloid or other highly
<br />flammable materials she].]. not be used for decoration purposes in show windows or stores
<br />without a permit, provided., ho~~rever, that nothing in this section sha.l~. be held to
<br />prohibit the disp].ay,of salable goods permitted and offered for sale in the store.
<br />Electric light bulbs in stores or public halls shall not be decorated +~rith paper or
<br />other combustible materials.
<br />2107 No person shall take into any building barn, bessel, boat or any other place
<br />where highly flammable, combustible or explosive materi8l is kept, an open flame unless
<br />such light or flame shall be +r~ell secured in a glass globe, +aire mesh cage or simi].a.r
<br />approved device.
<br />210 All chimneys, smo'.~estacks or sirzi],ar devices for conveying smoke or hot gases
<br />to the outer air and the stoves, furnaces, fire boxes or boilers to which they are
<br />cor_nected shall be constructed and maintained in such manner as not to endanger adjacent
<br />property, and in accordance tr~ith the Building Code.
<br />2100 No heating appa.ra.tus ~•.nth an open flame, and no artificial lighting system
<br />other than incandescent electric lights shall be used. in any warehouse for the storage
