<br />Films not in the magazine shall. be kept in metal bOY.AS, except in the process of
<br />re~.rinding, transferring or r~y~airing. Fot carbons taken from the lamps shal_1 be
<br />deposited in either a, metal recepticle or. a bucket of water.
<br />Portable cords 'shall not be allo?aed tfrithin the booth unless
<br />the same is pertinent to proper connection to th? 1a.ntern itself, and in all other
<br />respects the el.ectrica.l wiring must be in accordance ?~.~ith the rules and. requirements
<br />for electric trriring embodied in the National electrical code, or the standards set forth.
<br />by the United States bureau of standards which have been adopted by the state
<br />labor commissior_er. Each lamp connected with a picture machine must be .provided
<br />t,.~ith a separate swil~bh loca,tecZ within the booth. There shall also be two switches
<br />controlling the lights in the exhibition room, one of which shall be operated from the
<br />booth and the other so placed that i.t, is within reach of the ticket taker or
<br />rther person stationed a.t the entrance door. There shall be provided a separate system
<br />of lighting, controlled by s?aitches located tuithin easy reach of the ticket taker
<br />operating red sio al lamps, and. there shall be one such lamp placed at each exit, with
<br />a sign marked ''Exit" in letters not less than 5 inches high, said e.~it lights to be
<br />left burning at all times trhen the exhibition room is oven to the public.
<br />(d) Ventillation shall be provided by one or more mechanical exhaust systems
<br />which shall draw air from each arc lamp housing and from one or more points near the
<br />ceiling. Systems shall exhaust to outdoors either directly or through a non-combustible .
<br />flue used for no other pur.~oose.
<br />Exhaust capacity shall be rot less than 12 inches in diameter nor more than
<br />50 cubic feet per minute for each arc lamp plus a minimum of 200 cubic feet per minute
<br />for the room itself,
<br />Ex'raust ducts shall bP of non-combustible material, and shall either be
<br />kept I incr. from combustible material or covered with I~2 inch of non-combustible heat
<br />insulating material.
<br />(e) An approved film cabinet shall be provided in projection booths where the
<br />amount of film exceeds ~0 pounds (f~,000 feet of 35 mm. film). All film not being used
<br />sr~.ll bz keyot in the cabinet or ir. Interstate Commerce Commission shipping containers,
<br />but not over ~+0 pounds of film shall be permitted to remain in the shipping ccnta,iners.
<br />Part 5.
<br />FRYOXYLIN PLASTIC
<br />501. The term "Pyroxylin Plastic" as used in this ordinance shall be held to mean a.nd
<br />include any plastic substance, material or compound, other thar._ nitrocellulose film
<br />as provided for in the film storage regulations, having soluble cotton or aimi'_ar nitro-
<br />c811ulose as a base, including celluloid, fiberloia, pyralin, viscoloid, zylenite and
<br />simii.ar products, materials, and compounds by ?~rhatever name knot~,m, wren in the form
<br />of `olocks, slabs, sheets, tubes for fabricated shapes.
<br />,~02 All retailers, jobbers a,nd ~,rholesalers storing or ha.nd.ling mere than 100 pounds
<br />of pyroxylin plastic shall obtain a permit; a permit shall also be required for manu-
<br />facture of articles of pyyroxylin ;olastic, which shall include t?-,e use of pyroxylin
<br />plastic in the manufacture or asGemblingof other articles. ,
<br />All display of pyroxylin plastic articles ir. stores shall be in stow cases
<br />or show windo?,rs except as permitted. below.
<br />(a) Articles ma.y be placed on tables but no table shall be over j feet
<br />wide and 10 feet-long, and tables shall be spaced at least j feet apart. t^There articles
<br />are displayed on countere, they shall be arrangeC. in live manner.
<br />(b) Spaces underneath tables sy~~ll. be kept free of storage of any kind. and
<br />of accumul.a.tions 'of paper, refuse and other combustible material.
<br />(c) Sales or display tables shall. be so located that in the event of afire
<br />a.t that table, the table tn~ill not interfere orith free exity from the room, in at least
<br />ore direction.
<br />(d) Electric or. gas mar~tl.e light she? 1 r_ot be directly above any pyroxylin
<br />plastic material, unless provided with ~. suitable guard to prev^nt 2,eated particles
<br />falling.
<br />~r~fl~ All new exirtinF buildings ehall have all parts of the buildinu used for the
<br />manufacture er storage of articles of pyroxylin plastic equipped ?with an approved
<br />system of automatic sprinklers. .
<br />All raw pyroxylin plastic material in factory buildings stall be kept as
<br />followst
<br />(a) `~~ihere rata material in excess of 25 pounds is received in any building
<br />or fire area, an approved. vent cabinet or vented and sprinklered vzult shall b e
<br />provided for the storage of the material.
