<br />(a) Cabinets shall be of approved construction and shall pct have a
<br />j capacity in excess. of 375 pounds of film.
<br />{ (b) C~?;inets having a capacity of over 50 pounds of film shall be provided
<br />i with a vent from each compartment to the outside of the bi:.ilding. The vent shall
<br />have a minimum effective sectional area. of 1~' square inches per 100 pounds of film
<br />t capacity. be
<br />(c) Cabinets holding over 75 pounds of film shall provided with at least
<br />one automatic sprinkler; provided that a cabinet constructed so that each roll is
<br />~ ir. a separate compartment a.nd will ?urn out without cemmur_~cating fire to film in
<br />j any other compartment, need not be provided with an automatic sprinkler.
<br />(d) Film va~~tts shell be constructed, vented and s;~rinklPred in acs. JL•dance
<br />j ~~,ith the requirements for st~_ndard film vaults and in a manner satisfactory to the ,
<br />B~,zreau of Fire Prevention.
<br />4~ Every picture machine using nitr,o-cellulose film shall be ir_stalled or
<br />operated ~~rithin a booth, to be not, less than ~+S square ,feet in size and 7 feet high:
<br />If more than one machine is to be operated an additional 2Z- square feet shall be
<br />provided for each additional machine. The booth shall be built of brink, tile, or --
<br />plaster blocks, plastered on both sides, or of concrete, or of a rigid metal frame,
<br />properly braced, and sheathed a,nd roofed with locked seamed sheet iron of not less
<br />than No. 20 U,S, metal gauge, or with '~ inch hard asbEStos board, securely riveted
<br />or bolted~to the frame, or 2 inches of-solid metal lath and Portland cement Plaster.
<br />All joints aha.ll be sufficiently tight to prevent the discharge of smoke.
<br />(, a) The booth shall be floored with the same material as the
<br />sides and roof, riveted to the iron frame and covered with the same noncombustible
<br />material. The entrance door into the bootie shall be at least 2 feet by 5 feet,
<br />of construction equivalent to the sheathing permitted above for rigid frame booths,
<br />and shal?_ be so arranged. as to close autom2aically, and shall be kept closed at all
<br />times shop not used for egress or ingress.
<br />(b) Two or=f ices or openings for each picture machine may be provided
<br />one for the operators view shall be not larger than ~6 se~uare inches, and the other
<br />through v-hich the picture is projected shall be not larger than o~ scauare inches.
<br />Trlhere separate stereopticon, spot of flood light machines are instal7_ed in the same
<br />booth frith picture machines, not more than or_e opening for each machine shall. be
<br />~orovided for both the operators view and for the projection of the light, but two
<br />or more machines may be operated through the same openings; such openings shall be
<br />as small as practicable and shall be capable of being protected by approved
<br />automatic shutters. Each opening shall be provided with a gravity shutter. of
<br />approved fireproof material. Lerch shutter shall hav° a fusible link above it,
<br />and there shalt also be one located over each upper projector magazine v+hich,
<br />upon operating, grill close all the shutters, Trere shall also be provided
<br />suitable means for manually closing atl shutters~simultaneous?y fron a point near
<br />the door. Shutters on openings not in use shall, be kept closed.
<br />~'c) A11 shelves, furniture and fixtures within the booth shall be
<br />constructed of incombustible material, and no combustible material of any sort
<br />Trrhatever shall be permitted err a.llo~,re to bz within such booth, except the films
<br />used in the oper.?.tion of the machine, and film ce,-~ent.
<br />All picture machines using inflamr-i~ble fii_ms shall re equipped vrith
<br />incombustible magazines for rrceiving ~,nd delivering the films during the
<br />operation of the machine. A shutter must be provided and placed in front of the
<br />condensor of the machine, so arranged that same can be instantly closed by the
<br />operator.
