I <br />~~6 <br />ORDINr1NCE N0. 8887 <br />An Ordinance ordering a special election for submitting to the electors of <br />the City of Eugene, Oregon, at such special election to be held concurrently with the <br />State General Primary Election on the 17th day of 1;7ay, 191~b, the followa:ng proposed <br />amendments to the Charter of the City of Eugene, referred to the electors of said <br />city by the Common Council for their approval or rejection, and adopting the polling <br />places and the Judges and Clerks conducting the General State Primary Election and <br />providing for all acts necessary for the carrying on of said City Election, and <br />declaring an emergency. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FdLLOti~IS: <br />Section 1. That a special election shall be held concurrently with the <br />General State Primary Election in the City of Eugene, Oregon on Friday, the 17th day <br />of May, 19l~6, at which election there shall be submitted to the electors of said City <br />for the approval or rejection, the following proposed amendment to the Charter of the <br />City of Eugene, Oregon, to-wit: <br />Proposed by Resolution of the Common Council and referred to the Electors: <br />"AST ACT to amend the Charter of the City of Eugene, Oregon, by adding <br />a new Chapter thereto, authorizing and empowering the °City of Eugene, <br />to extend and enlarge the street acid highway system v+d thin the City <br />by adding such units and structures as shall in the judgment of the <br />Common Council be deemed expedient, convenient and necessary; making <br />connections with the state highway and including connecting the <br />Coburg bridge with state highway 99; to secure by purchase„ condemnation <br />or otherwise within and or without the City all real estate, rights <br />of way, property, water. rights, easements and licenses necessary or <br />convenient to said enlargement and extension; to construct any and <br />every structure and appliance reasonable and necessary therefor; and <br />to issue and sell negotiable general obligation bonds of the City of <br />Eugene in the sum of X500,000.00, or so much thereof, as shall be <br />necessary for such purpose, and to expend the proceeds, with any <br />other available fund;,, iii payment therefor." <br />Proposed by Resolution of the Common Council and referred to the Electors: <br />"AN ACT to amend the Charter of the City of Eugene by adding a new <br />Chapter thereto, authorizing and empowering the Common Council of <br />the City of ~.igene, for the purpose of maintaining and supervising <br />the public playgrounds and recreation areas for said City, to include <br />in its general tax levy each year, such special levy as shall be <br />required, in the judgment of the Common Council, not to exceed seven <br />tenths of one mill upon the dollar valuation, for the maintenance <br />and supervision of public playgrounds and recreation areas for the <br />City of Eugene; All to be in addition to existing levies. <br />This levy shall be in addition to and in excess of the constitutional <br />6~per cent limitation upon the City~s tax levy. <br />Section 2. That said proposed amendments to the Charter of the City of <br />Eugene shall be placed upon the officie_1 ballot by the City 1ecorder to be voted upon <br />by the electors of the said City a.t said election. <br />Section 3. The City Recorder shall provide such poll books, ballot boxes, <br />tally sheets, and such other supplies for each polling place as are necessary for the <br />carrying on of the election, which shall be delivered to 'the election board. <br />
