ii` <br />~~1 <br />ORDINANCE N0. 896t~ <br />An Ordinance regulating and licensing mechanical sewer line <br />cleaning devices and providing a penalty for violation of <br />the provisions hereof and declaring an emergency. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORflAIN AS FOLUJZ~S <br />Section 1. (a) The term, "person'; wher~:ver used. in this Ordinance shall <br />mean and include a person, a firm, a corporation and any association under which busi- <br />ness is transacted, and the singular number shall include the plural. <br />(b) The term, "sewer cleaning device«, whenever used in this <br />Ordinance, shall mean and include any mechanical equipment, tool or device whatso- <br />ever used in the process of cleaning private, commercial or residential sewer lines. <br />_ Section 2. Fret and after the passage of this Ordinance it shall be un- <br />lawful for any person to perform or offer to perform services or ~nrork in the process <br />of cleaning private, commercial or residential sewer lines by mechanical device <br />without first obtaining a license therefor in the manner hereinafter provided. Fro- <br />vided, however, that this Ordinance shall not aq~ply to any person holding a valid <br />license under the provisions of the City of Eugene's Ordinance No. 8366, passed by <br />the Common Council on November 13, 1933, and approved by the Mayor of said .City on <br />November 11t, 1933 • <br />Section 3. Any person desiring to obtain a license to operate a sewer <br />cleaning device in the City of Eugene shall make application therefor at the office <br />of the City Recorder on blanks to be furnished for that purpose, and shall describe <br />in general terms the sewer cleaning device to be licensed. Each license sh all be <br />approved by the City Manager. anc~Ior the City Recorder before issuance thereof for <br />the particular device so licensed. Provided, however, the City Manager and/or the <br />City Recorder may, at his discretion, with the concurrence of the. City Engineer, re- <br />ject any and all applications for license hereunder for any reason or cause deemed <br />sufficient for the protection of the public safety and welfare of the inhabitants <br />t of the City of Eixgene . <br />section 1~. A license fee of $x,25.00 per fiscal year shall be charged for <br />each and every sewer cleaning device so licensed hereunder, pzvvided, however, that <br />said annual license fee may, upon the application of the applicant be payable <br />qua rte rly in advance . <br />Section 5. Upon the approval of the application for license hereunder <br />and upon the payment of such license fee, the City Recorder shall issue to each <br />applicant a suitable license which shall be carried upon the person operating any <br />sewer cleaning device licensed hereunder at all times that such device is being <br /> <br />operated. <br />
