2"7~ <br />ORDINAr`'CE PTO. 937, <br />An ordinance oredering a special e lection for submission to the legal voters of the City <br />of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon at such special election to b e he'd on the day of June, <br />1949,, the following proposed amendment to the Charter of said City of Eugene, referred t o the <br />legal voters of said City by the Cor:~mon Council thereof, for their approval or rejection, and <br />designating the polling p],aces and the judges and clerks for the carr~-ing on of such special <br />City election, and declaring an emergency. <br />THE CITY OF E'JGLNE IbES ORDAIPT AS F OI.ZOWS <br />Section 1. That a special city election shal 1 be held in the City of Eugene, Lane <br />County, Oregon on , the rv day of June, 1949, at which election <br />there shall be s ubmitted to the legal voters of said City for their approval or re jection, the <br />following aa~ndment to the City charter of the City of Eugene, proposed and referred to the <br />people by the Gammon Council of the City of Eugene and which Charter amendment is ~-rr on file, <br />the t itle of w hich is as follows <br />Proposed b y resolution of the Common Council and referred to the legal voters: <br />"A.rJ ACT to amend the Charter of the City of Eugene by adding a new chapter thereto, <br />authorizing, empowering and directing the Common Council of the City of Eugene to <br />design, construct, reconstruct, add to, and repair the sourer and drainage syrstem of <br />the City of Eugene, including the drains, ditches and outlets, for the carrying <br />away of sewage and flood waters, and for the foregding purposes to levy upon all tax- <br />able prapert~r in the City of Eugene a f ive mill t~~x levy e ach year for a period of <br />five consecutive years, c ommencing with the levy for the tax roll of 1948-1950, until <br />the estimated cost of $~ shall have been raised, said levy to be <br />in addition t o and in excess o e cons ttu i.onal six per cent limitation upon the <br />Ci.ty's tax levy. rr <br />Section 2. That the proposed amendment to the said Charter of the City of Eugene shall <br />be placed upon the official ballot by the City Recorder, to be voted upon by the legal voters <br />of said City at said a_lectior.: <br />Section 3. That the City Recorder shall provide such po71 b ooks, ballot boxes, tally she <br />sheets and such other supplies for each polling place hereinafter designated, a; are necessary <br />for the carrying on of the said election~~ vrhich shall be delivered to the election board. <br />Section 4. That the Common Council does herebrr designate as the polling places for <br />said special election in theCit~r of Eugene, the following: <br />One polling place i_n each of the wards of said city, to-wit: <br />Roosevelt Junior Highschool at 18th and Agate Street, vrithin lard 1. <br />Washington School at 7th and High Street, within Ward 2. <br />Eugene Vocational School at 751 West Fourth Street, within Ward 3. <br />City Hall at 11th and V`rillamette Street, within 1~~lard 4. <br />And that bf the following list of judges and clerks for said special election the first <br />named shall be a judge and chairman of the election board; the second named shall be a judge, <br />and the next three shall be designated as first, second and third clerks. <br />1 <br />i <br /> <br />
