~8 <br />' ORDIATANCE N0. 9320 <br />An Ordinance regulating the playing of pool, billiards, cards or any such similar game, and <br />regulating any rcom or resort inv~.ch such games are played in the City of Eugene and" fixing a <br />license on card tables, pool tables and billiard tables, establishing method of investigation of <br />applicant for license, fixin g a penalty and declaring anemer gency, and repealing conflicting <br />ordinances. <br />THE CITY OIi' EU G~?NE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLO~YS <br />Section 1. A regylatory license fee is hereby established for card tables, pool tables and <br />billiard tables as follows: <br />For the first .card table, X10.00, each additional table, ~n5.00. For the first pool table <br />1 <br />X10.00, each additional table, .?5.00. The license fee shall be paid armually in advance on the <br />the first day of <br />of each year. <br />Section 2. It shall be unlav~rful to inst~?11, to keep or maintain in any pool room, card room <br />or similar room or resort any card table, ;pool table, or billiard table, without having first <br />applied for and received from the City Recorder a license therefor. <br />Section 3. All applications for said licenses shall be approved by the Common Council <br />of the City of Eugene before a license is issued. Upon receiving an application, the Recorder- <br />Treasurer of the City of Eugene shall submit the application to the Chief of Police. The Chief <br />of Police shall investigate the statements contained in the application and make such oilier and <br />further investigation as he may deem necessary, and within tvro t^reeks after the receipt of the <br />application, he shall return the application to the Recorder-Treasurer, together with a report <br />of hi.s findi~:gs cone~r'"Wing the statements contained in the a.pplicaticn and a record, if any, <br />and pertaining to the arplicatnt or t o the premises concerning any violation of either the <br />Federal or State statutes or municipal ordinances by such applicant or upon such premises. A <br />copy of such record shall be attached to his report. The Reocrder-Treausrer shall, upon receipt <br />of the report. of the Chief of Police, transfer the report, application and any accompannyin~ <br />exhibits attached theretom to the Common Council for approval or rejection. <br />Section La.. The owner of a license to maintain and operate card room is given-the right to <br />rene~ral or reissuance o f such license at the same or at a different place of business, upon <br />full compliance t~~rith the ordinances oP the City of L'ugene governing the licensing of card rooms, <br />but shall have nn prnver to sell, assign or convey right of renez=ra.l or reissuance to any other <br />perso~i. Hovrever, the Council may, in its descretior., permit the salo and trasfer of a license <br />in the' case of the death or b<;nkruptc~l of the licensee, or upon the presentation of bona fide <br />petition of sale, if its investigation reflects that the pr ospective purchaser can qualify under <br />terms of this ordinance. <br />Section 5.
