Utility Corridor Policy <br /> <br />The Eugene City Council and the Lane County Board of Commissioners adopted a new policy on <br />utilities within protected wetlands. This policy ensures that these areas will continue to be given <br />adequate protection, while allowing maintenance and repairs of existing utilities. New utilities <br />can only be constructed under very unusual circumstances, when a strenuous alternatives analysis <br />concludes that it is the best way to minimize overall wetland impacts. <br /> <br />"Future fill or removal within the "utility corridors" as designated on the Wetland <br />Designation Map (Map 3) shall be conducted with an applicable U.S. Army Corps of <br />Engineers (Army Corps) and/or Division of State Lands dredge and fill permit(s), and <br />shall be limited to the minimum impacts necessary to:' <br />I) conduct emergency repairs to existing utility lines, <br /> <br />Multiple Site Ordinance, Exhibit C (Refinement Plan Amendment Findings) <br /> <br />Page 31 <br />
