<br />May 19, 1997 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />3) Based on low bid cost, City staff will compute preliminary assessment costs and <br />will present those costs at the improvement hearing. <br /> <br />4), As required by ORS 305.583(5), the special benefit assessments for this project <br />will be characterized by the City Council as an assessment for local improve- <br />ments. Pursuant to ORS 305.583, within 60 days of this notice any ten <br />interested taxpayers who disagree with this characterization may file a petition <br />with the Oregon Tax Court. <br /> <br />5) The City Council, or a hearing official, must hold an improvement hearing prior <br />to award. <br /> <br />Imorovement Hearinq on Award of the Contract <br /> <br />A hearings official will hear and consider testimony from property owners effected by the <br />improvement, objections and remonstrances from opponents, and support by proponents. All <br />written material to be considered by the hearings official must be submitted to the City <br />Engineer1s office no later than 12:00 noon, Monday, June 2, 1997. The City Engineers office <br />is located in Public Works Building, 858 Pearl Street, Eugene, Oregon. You are also requested <br />to notify the City Engin'eer's office if you plan to attend, the hearing by writing or calling, 682- <br />5590. IF NO PROPERTY OWNERS PLAN TO ATTEND, THE HEARING WILL BE <br />CANCELED. <br /> <br />Further Information <br /> <br />If you have any questions about the proposed improvements, estimated costs, assessment, <br />or other concerns that may be of interest to you as a property owner, please contact Jerry <br />Behney or Jeff Lankston in this office at 682-5560. <br /> <br />The meeting location is wheelchair accessible. For the deafor hearing-impaired. an interpreter <br />or closed-loop system can be provided with 48 hours notice. Spanish-language interpretation <br />will also be provided with 48 hours notice.
