<br />Left Turn Lanes <br /> <br />Design Guidelines <br /> <br />1) Arterial and collector streets may have a <br />continuous two-way left turn lane to channelize <br />and remove turning traffic from through traffic <br />lanes, or to provide additional separation <br />between traffic moving in opposite directions. <br /> <br />2) Continuous two-way left turn lanes are most <br />useful on streets where driveways and intersec- <br />tions are frequent. <br /> <br />3) The preferred width for provision of a painted <br />continuous two-way left turn lane is 12 feet. <br /> <br />4) Left turn lanes at intersections and continuous <br />left turn lanes may be required on major collec- <br />tor streets in commercial, industrial, and multi- <br />family residential areas. <br /> <br />5) Neighborhood collector streets shall not be <br />designed with continuous left-turn lanes but left turn <br />lanes at intersections with higher volume streets <br />may be required. <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />Left Turn Lane Design Standards <br /> <br />1) All left turn lanes on collector and arterial streets <br />shall be a minimum of 101 in width. <br /> <br /> <br />A center turn lane on River Road <br /> <br />22 <br />
