Eugene Police Commission <br />FY 2006 -2007 Work Plan <br />Assist in informing the public on standard police practices and new initiatives and increase <br />the transparency of police operations to residents <br />Along with members of the City Council and Human Rights Commission, participate in the <br />Perspectives in Profiling training provided to all sworn department staff. <br />OUTCOME 2. Identify police policy and resource issues related to preferred policing alternatives. <br />In FY 2007, the Police Commission will: <br />Participate in the development of a comprehensivestrategy to address family violence, identifying <br />best practices and formulating options for strategies that would improve the city’s ability to <br />respond to and/or reduce such incidents. <br />Act in an advisory role to the City Council and Police Auditor to refine enabling ordinance and <br />establish operating principals and procedures for the Auditor’s Office and Civilian Review Board. <br />Assist the department in aligning strategic plan initiatives with community priorities. <br />Decrease misunderstandings regarding the nature of adopted police policies, <br />OUTCOME 3. <br />practices and approaches. <br />In FY 2007, the Police Commission will: <br />Monitor the implementation of the in-car video system to include developing any policy <br />refinements and commenting on a project evaluation plan. <br />Present the results of the commission’s analyses to the community through news releases, its web <br />site, status reports to City Council, distribution of reports to stakeholders and participants, and <br />other mechanisms as appropriate. <br />Continue to seek opportunities to network with other organizations and constituencies to increase <br />collaboration and information sharing, and in particular, establish a working relationship with the <br />Auditor’s Office. <br />Provide input on police policies that reflect community values. <br />OUTCOME 4. <br />In FY 2007, the Police Commission will: <br />Assist the police department in a comprehensivereview and update of its policies and procedures <br />manual. <br />5- <br />Adopted July 27, 2006 - <br />
