Eugene still not admitting to problem and not demonstrating willingness to take
individual responsibility for status.

Issue with “problem” would prefer to use opportunity as there are many opportunities to
build alliances. Would like to see culturally appropriate services and education that
reflects inclusive history.

What can we borrow from other successful ideas? As community we need to keep on speaking the message.

Sincerity is important to me. Continue the dialogue. Forum cannot peter out now. I’d like
to see some sort of forum continue to identify and implement ideas.

not in our town
Reaffirm – . Next time consider strategies to success.

Jeff Wright of the RG is an ally.

We don’t have to wait for the media. We can be proactive.

Why is it that racial slurs have abated but homophobic terms are more common
particularly in schools?

Not in our town
Develop the strategy and use billboards, media, bus signs, etc., to get the
message out.
Communities of Color 38 July 12, 2006
