7.1.8. Reinforced Gypsum Concrete: When cast -in-place Class B <br />gypsum concrete is being mixed and placed. <br />7.1.9. Insulating Concrete Fill: During the application of insulating <br />concrete fill when used as part of a structural system. <br />Exception: The special inspections may be limited to an initial <br />inspection to check the deck surface and placement of reinforcing. The <br />special inspector shall supervise the preparation of compression test <br />specimens during this initial inspection. <br />7.1.10. Spray -Applied Fireproofing: As required by U.B.C. Standard 43- <br />3 <br />7.1.11. Piling, Drilled Piers and Caissons: During driving and testing of <br />piles and construction of cast -in-place drilled piles or caissons. See R -8.005-B- <br />7.1.1., 7.1.3., and 7.1.4. for concrete and reinforcing steel inspection. <br />7.1.12. Shotcrete: During the taking of test specimens and placing of all <br />shotcrete and as required by Section 262 10) and (k) of the Building Code. <br />Exception: Shotcrete work fully supported on earth, minor repairs <br />and when in the opinion of the building official, no special hazard exists. <br />7.1.13. Special Grading, Excavation and Filling: During earth -work <br />excavations, grading and filling operations inspection to satisfy requirements of <br />Chapter 29 and Chapter 70 (Appendix) of the Building Code. <br />7.1.14. Special Cases: If, in the opinion of the Building Official or Fire <br />Marshal, certain work involves unusual hazards or conditions or requires technical <br />expertise which is unavailable within the City, then a technical opinion or report <br />may be required. In such special cases, the Building Official or Fire Marshal may <br />require the owner or person in possession or control of the building or premises to <br />provide, without charge to the City, a technical opinion and report. The opinion <br />and report shall be prepared by a qualified engineer, specialist, laboratory or fire - <br />safety specialty organization acceptable to the Building Official or Fire Marshal <br />and the owner and shall analyze the fire -safety properties of the design, operation <br />or use of the building or premises and the facilities and appurtenances situated <br />thereon, to recommend the necessary changes. <br />7.2 Special Inspector. The special inspector shall be a qualified person who <br />shall demonstrate competence, to the satisfaction of the Building Official, for inspection of <br />the particular type of construction or operation requiring special inspection. <br />7.3 Duties and Responsibilities of the Special Inspector. <br />Administrative Order - Page 27 of 40 <br />
