organizationrepresentingarchitectshasadoptedapositionstatementcallingforthe <br />immediateenergyreductionofallnewandrenovatedbuildingstoonehalfthenational <br />averageforthatbuildingtype,withincreasedreductionsof10%everyyearssothat <br />bytheyear2030allbuildingsdesignedwillbecarbonneutral,meaningtheywilluse <br />nofossilfuelenergy. <br />thattheU.S.ConferenceofMayors <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVED <br />11. <br />willencourageitsmemberstoadoptthefollowing?2030Challenge?forbuilding <br />performancetargets: <br /> NewconstructionofCitybuildingsshallbedesignedtoandachieveaminimum <br />deliveredfossil-fuelenergyconsumptionperformancestandardofonehalfthe <br />U.S.averageforthatbuildingtypeasbytheU.S.DepartmentofEnergy. <br /> RenovationprojectsofCitybuildingsshallbedesignedtoandachievea <br />minimumdeliveredfossil-fuelenergyconsumptionperformancestandardofone <br />halftheU.S.averageforthatbuildingtypeasbytheU.S.Departmentof <br />Energy. <br /> Allothernewconstruction,renovations,repairs,andreplacementsofCity <br />buildingsshallemploycosteffective,greenbuildingpracticesto <br />themaximumextentpossible;and <br />thattheU.S.Conferenceof <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BEITFURTHERRESOLVED <br />12. <br />Mayorswillworktoincreasethefossil-fuelreductionstandardforallnewbuildingsto <br />carbonneutralby2030,inthefollowingincrements: <br /> 60%in2010 <br /> 70%in2015 <br /> 80%in2020 <br /> 90%in2025 <br /> Carbon-neutralby2030(meaningnewbuildingswillusenofossilfuelGHG <br />[greenhousegas]emittingenergytooperate);and <br />thattheU.S.ConferenceofMayorswillurge <br />BEITFURTHERRESOLVED <br />13. <br />mayorsfromaroundthenationtojointhiseffortbydevelopingplanstofully <br />implementtheabovementionedtargetsaspartoftheirprocurementprocessandby <br />establishingpoliciestoinsurecomplianceandmeasureresults;and <br />thattheU.S.ConferenceofMayorswillurge <br />BEITFURTHERRESOLVED <br />14. <br />mayorsfromaroundthenationtodevelopplanstofullyimplementtheabove <br />mentionedtargetsforallnewandrenovatedbuildingswithintheCity;and <br />thattheU.S.ConferenceofMayorswillworkin <br />BEITFINALLYRESOLVED <br />15. <br />conjunctionwithICLEILocalGovernmentsforSustainabilityandotherappropriate <br />organizationstojointhisefforttodevelopplanstofullyimplementsimilartargetsas <br />mentionedabove. <br /> <br />
