Committee Reports and Items of Interest from Mayor, City Council, and City Manager <br />Council discussion: <br />• There is a hearing on House Bill 2669 on March 20 at the legislature. <br />• Groundbreaking on youth house on Willamette by St. Vincent de Paul is next week. <br />• Connection to the fiber network downtown will begin on March 21. <br />B. WORK SESSION: Review of 2016 Implementation on Bond Measure to Fix Streets and <br />2017 Pavement Management Report <br />Public Works Engineering Team Leader Jennifer Wiler gave a brief update on the annual report <br />on the 2016 implementation on the bond measure, Street Review Repair Panel annual report, and <br />2017 pavement management report. <br />Council discussion: <br />• Impressed and pleased with progress, especially the bike/ped options. <br />• Support another bond measure to continue work. <br />• Thankful for staff and citizen volunteers; citizens can be proud of what has been done. <br />• Would like to look into adding an increase to the maintenance overlay fund. <br />• Success was due to the specific list of projects, review panel and auditor; great model to use. <br />• Would like to increase portion for bike/ped projects in a new bond. <br />• Consideration of railroad quiet zone outside urban renewal district should be added. <br />• Need to ensure stable operations and maintenance budget to help eliminate bonds. <br />• Ice storm repairs should also be considered and factored into future needs. <br />• Inspired by new techniques on fixing roads; helps with climate goals. <br />C.
