<br />r46 <br /> <br />The Street l.iommittee reported on the petition of the Eugene Hospital for a r <br />-1 reserved parldng space in front of the Hospi tal and recommended the petition be <br />~ granted. The City Attorney spoke on the matter and stated it could not legally <br />~ be done. No further action was taken. <br /> <br />The City Attorney spoke on the petition of Wm A Taylor to hav~ cancelled a <br />City Lien against Lot 2, ~lock 6, Hendrieks Addition, which ~ien is alleged to hav <br />heen cut out by the said property going 1;0 ta~ deed to Lane County, and recommende <br />the City "sit tight" in the matter. He also asked to be allowed to negotiate with <br />such petitioner to see what settlement may be made in the matter. Such request was <br />granted. <br /> <br />The 1fuyor stated the Standard Oil Co. desires to install a gas station at the <br />Aviation .l!'ield and the matter was discussed. No action was taken. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Engineer reported and estimated it would cost $3556.00 to tile the <br />Aviation Field and rock the runways. The matter was discussed and the following <br />resolution was offered and unanimously adopted: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />Be it Re sol ved by the \J ommon Council. 0 f the City of Eugene that the City of <br />of Eugene improve the Aviation .lfield by tileing the same and. rocking the runways, <br /> <br />for aviation uses. <br /> <br />Be it further resolved that the City Engineer shall immediately prepare plans <br /> <br />and specifications for such imptovement work. <br /> <br />Be it further resolved the Recorder advertise for competitive bids for such <br />improvement work and the same be paid fOI' from such fund as may be hereafter <br />determined. <br /> <br />A petition was presented by the Mack Amusement Co for a skating rink license <br />at the Winter Garden Dance Hall, and a fee of ~5.00 paid. On motion, such petition <br />was granted. <br /> <br />A petition was received from the Eugene Garden Club asking the Ordinance be <br />enforced against cutting limbs and cutting trees on the parlcings, which acts are <br />detrimental to the beauty of the City. Said matter was refel~red to the Park Board. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Eugene Garden Club also petitioned the parking strips in Agate and <br />Villard Streets be cared for, free water furnished for that purpose, and the grass <br />and weeds mowed in Season, Said matter was referred to the City Engineer. <br /> <br />A petitioh from the Federation of Wo~en's Clubs was presented, asking for <br />a clean up week. Said matter was referred to the health Committee. <br /> <br />A petition was received from the Associated Oil Co to install a sloping <br />driveway at its station at 8th and Monroe Street. -The matter was discussed. The <br />Street Committee recommended the Compapy be required to build the walk lion grade". . <br />The recommendation was approved. <br /> <br />The. "Boy Scouts" filed the report of their week of administration of city <br />affairs and made several reco~~endations for the Council's Consideration. On <br />motion, duly carried, such report was adopted and as far as possible such recom- <br />mendations are to be followed. <br /> <br />The Inspector of Buildings filed the report of the Committee to draft a <br />Building Code for the city and the same was read in part and considered. It was <br />then referred to the Judiciary and the Fire and 7later CO~'Ilittees for a report <br />thereon at the next meeti~~ of the Council. <br /> <br />The Mayor spoke of the llRichfield" signs at 2nd and Van Buren Street and 6th <br />and Monroe Street which are illegally installed. ~he Chief of Police was ordered <br />to see such signs are abated. <br /> <br />The Maypr appointe F N McAlister as a member of the Band ioiornmission for the <br />ensuing term.
