On motion "t:~ <br />such report was adopted. <br /> <br />~he Finance Committee recommended the estimate of the City Engineer to pay <br />Stien Bros ~1152.00 for paving the alley between 12th and l'6th Avenues from <br />Alder to Kincaid Streets be approved. On motion such report was adopted. <br /> <br />Street Committee: <br />The Street Committee reported a street pump at the Howard Garage <br />on East 7th Avenue was broken and it has been reinstalled several feet from its <br />former location and in such manner as to be dangerous to traffic, and recommended <br />the pump be orJered removed. After discussion, the matter Vias referred back to the <br />Street Committee, which Gommittee, with the Mayor, is to see Howard and report back <br />to the next meeting of the Council. <br /> <br />11he matter of Street ~ighs, under the recommendations of the Boy Scouts, was <br />discussed, it being stated there are many illegal signs in the City. The matter <br />was referred to the Inspector of Buildings and the City Attorney. <br /> <br />The Fire and Water, Sev'ier and Printing Committees l1;ad no reports to make. <br /> <br />The Ma.)Tor on behalf of the Health 80rnmi ttee reported he has seen Judge <br />Barnard as to the bills are in dispute between the County and City and stated the <br />matter would be continued and he believed such matter would. adjust itself. <br /> <br />The Police Committee recommended Jerry Hoyt be placed on the pay roll at <br />$125.00 per month his time to start with April 1, 1928~ On ro~l call such report <br />Was adopted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />On niotion, duly carried., the order passed April 9, 1928, directing the City <br />Attorney to re-draft section 5 of the Meat Ordinance, reducing the fee to $1.00 to <br />those selling meat in the City, was rescinded and in lieu thereof the Recorder was <br />directed to. sir::n a license and deliver to the Producers Public Market to reas as <br />follows:'~-<''-,,~ - ..< <br />r. .. ;6"..: .. <br /> <br />Eugene, Uregon, <br />April 20, 19 28 ~ <br /> <br />.License is hereby granted to the Producers .Public Market of the City of <br /> <br />Eugene for a term of five years. This license permits-all persons holding permis- <br /> <br />sian from the market master to retail fresh meats at the Producers public market <br /> <br />a~ Eugene during the term of' this license. This license is in lieu of all licenses <br /> <br />inspection charf.'es and fees of every charcter under Ordinance No. 655'1 of the City <br /> <br />of Eugene, and the license fee hereunder shall be $50.00 payable $10.00 on the <br /> <br />first day of 1~rch of each year during its term. <br /> <br />Receipt is hereby acknowledged of the pa~nent of ~10.00 for March 1, 1928. <br /> <br />City Recorder. <br /> <br />The report of the Public Library was received and filed. <br /> <br />The report of the Meat Inspector was received and filed. <br /> <br />A letter of appreciation from v-v E j\Ioxley as President of Lane County Council <br />of the Bo,y- Scouts for the City's effox.ts on behalf of the G::lty."Government -Nesk <br />conducted by the Scouts, was read and f lled. <br /> <br />I~ <br /> <br />A letter was read from the ~eaGue of Oregon Cities inviting the City officials <br />to ~eet at 2;00 o'clock P.~I. on .pril 28, at Portland at its get-together meeting. <br />On JjJ.otion the Mayor 3Ild City Att5rney were authorized to attend as~delegates from <br />Eugene and the City to pay their expenses. <br /> <br />A letter was read from the Redwood Empire Association as to the Caravan to <br />reach Eugene, April 30, and suggesting the 1~yor ~~d Cou~cil meet the Caravan on it <br />arrival. On motion it was agreed the officials of the City meet these men at the <br />City Limits and escort them through the city. <br /> <br />~ <br />
