I The Finance Commi ttee reoorted on the bids to furnish gas to the ci ty for ,_~ the ensuing year, and recommended the City accept, the bids of the Standard, Shell, .--,'i.... and Richfield Companies at 20~ cents, the companies to :pay the '6c! tax. On motion "t:~ such report was adopted. ~he Finance Committee recommended the estimate of the City Engineer to pay Stien Bros ~1152.00 for paving the alley between 12th and l'6th Avenues from Alder to Kincaid Streets be approved. On motion such report was adopted. Street Committee: The Street Committee reported a street pump at the Howard Garage on East 7th Avenue was broken and it has been reinstalled several feet from its former location and in such manner as to be dangerous to traffic, and recommended the pump be orJered removed. After discussion, the matter Vias referred back to the Street Committee, which Gommittee, with the Mayor, is to see Howard and report back to the next meeting of the Council. 11he matter of Street ~ighs, under the recommendations of the Boy Scouts, was discussed, it being stated there are many illegal signs in the City. The matter was referred to the Inspector of Buildings and the City Attorney. The Fire and Water, Sev'ier and Printing Committees l1;ad no reports to make. The Ma.)Tor on behalf of the Health 80rnmi ttee reported he has seen Judge Barnard as to the bills are in dispute between the County and City and stated the matter would be continued and he believed such matter would. adjust itself. The Police Committee recommended Jerry Hoyt be placed on the pay roll at $125.00 per month his time to start with April 1, 1928~ On ro~l call such report Was adopted. A letter was read from the Redwood Empire Association as to the Caravan to reach Eugene, April 30, and suggesting the 1~yor ~~d Cou~cil meet the Caravan on it arrival. On motion it was agreed the officials of the City meet these men at the City Limits and escort them through the city. ~
