This getition, together with <br />the getition against such vJidening, 'v--,ras referred to the street Committee. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A petition to gave Polk: Street from 2nd Avenue to 12th Avenue was received. <br />Said peti tion .was I'eferred uto .the Street Cormni ttee and it recommended such peti- <br />tion .be granted. On motion such recommendation was adopted. <br /> <br />The petition to oil Grand Street which was. I)reSel'lted last year was re-present- <br />ed and referred to the Street Co,nmittee. Such (Jommittee recommended the :petition <br />be granted, the work to be dope as soon as the weather will permit. On motion such <br />report was adopted. <br /> <br />The following resolution was offer'ed and uhanimously adopted: <br /> <br />RESOLurrrON. <br /> <br />F.ESOLVED: Tha t the Common C ounc il of the City 0 I' Eugene, Oregon deems it expedi- <br /> <br />ent and necessary to open, layout and establish Almaden Street from 3rd Avenue <br /> <br />to 2nd Avenue in the City of Eugene, Oregon, and that the City Engill.neer be and is <br /> <br />here by- direc ted to make a plat thereof and rooke and file a wri tten report con- <br /> <br />taining a full and complete description of such street and the boundaries thereof <br /> <br />and 61' the portions of each lot, part of lot, or tract of land to be appropriated <br /> <br />therefor. <br /> <br />The Street Committee brought up the protest of li.Irs Stevens, which was over- <br />ruled at the last meeting, as to the opening of Almaden Street from _6th to 8th <br />Avenue, and the ma tter was further di scussed but no ac tion taken. <br /> <br />Councilman McCully moved 15th Avenue from 1\1oss Street to University Street <br />be paved. After discussion and without a second the matter was put over till <br />the next meeting to eet the sentiment as to such improvement. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Attorney reported one Ridenou.2 claims a damaf;e of $30.00 to his car <br />for running into some timbers on 15th Avenue between Olive and Charnelton <br />Streets where the street 1s not improved and little traveled. The matter was <br />discussed but no action taken. <br /> <br />The City Attorney further reported a ~~s Larsen claims the alley back of <br />Emerald Street and adjacent to the new Dormitory is blocked oy braces to such <br />building so her son is not permitted to use his garage and she- v/ants the city to <br />rent a garaee for him while such alley is jmpassagle. The 1~yor agreed to see the <br />Foreman of the construction crew and also Iv~s Larsen and report at .next meeting. <br /> <br />The matter of the sanitary condition of John Gardner's barn at 266 Jefferson <br />Street was discussed and the same referred to the Sanitary Inspector and the Chief <br />of Police for report. <br /> <br />The City Engineer reported it would. cost about ~1700.00 to put the parking <br />in the center of Agate and Villard Streets in condition to be watered and kept <br />Green. No action was taken. <br /> <br />Thirty sidewalk assessment ordinances were read. the first tille and laid over. <br /> <br />Tvvo sidewall{ improvement ordinances Vlere read t:-w first time and passed thei <br />second and third. readings by tti tIe by unanimous consent unc.er suspension of the <br />rule and were glaced. on their final passage. The ayes and. nays wer'e called, all <br />presEfnt votinf;'; aye, nay, none. The Ordinances .vere declared passed. and numbered <br />67852:" and 6786::.:'2... <br /> <br />An Ordinance to improve Lawrence Street from 19th to 21st Aven\le was read <br />the firs t time and passed its second and third readings, by ti tle by unanimous <br />consent und.er suspension of the rule and was placed on its final passage. The ayes <br />anE!.. nays were called, all present voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was declar- <br />ed passed and numbered 6787. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />An Ordinance approvine and adopting the :plans and s:peci fi ca tions of the City <br />Engineer for the improvement of Lawrence S tree t from 19 th .to )~~J.~tAvenue was read <br />the first time and passed its second and third readings by title by unanimous <br />consent under suspensi02' of the rule and. waS0 placed on its final passage.
