<br /> and spoke on oehalf of the protestants, and after disoussion said,bids received
<br /> were not read, and it was decHl.a.d, on motion, to divide such projeot and re-adverti ~
<br /> the same under two contraots, one from 2nd to 3rd Avenue s, ,and, one from 3rd to 4th
<br /> Avenues, and the Recorder was authorized to advertise ~or plain concrete paving

<br /> The Street Committee recommend~d the petition to pave High Street from
<br /> the ~outh line of 16th Avenue to the North line of 19th Avenue, be granted, and
<br /> on motion, such recommendation was adopted, and the City Engineer was authorized
<br /> to prepare plans for various kinds of pavement for the purpose of bids.
<br /> The Street Committee reoommended the petition to pave Mill Street from
<br /> . tl1e South line of 16th Avenue to the North line of 19th Avenue, be granted, and
<br /> on motion, suoh recommendation was adopted, and the City Engineer was authorized
<br /> t-o prepare plans for various kinds of pavemen t for the purpo se of bids.
<br /> The Sewer Committee reported on the progress on the work on the outlet of
<br /> the Polk Street Sewer and also reported on the progress being made on the Amazon.
<br /> On motioD, the matters pertaining to such two projects were left with the City
<br /> Engineer and Sewer Committee with power to act.
<br /> A proposed Ordinance was presented and read, the first time and laid over,
<br /> calling for fifteen-minute parking on the North side of 6th Avenue from Willamette
<br /> Street to the alley West of Willamette Street.
<br /> The City Engineer reported on the Ki lovdahl maps, stating the Recorder and
<br /> Fire Department only desire ~ch maps, and on motion, a map for each of these
<br /> departments was ordered purohased.
<br /> The Chief of Police reported eLectric signs are now in fairly good shape
<br /> and he is seeing that the rest of such signs comply with the law.
<br /> .
<br /> I A Mr. Law who has entered business on West 8th Street appeared before the
<br /> Council asking relief from congested traffic, desiring a. fifteen-minute parking
<br /> time on Wes t 8 th 5 treet. He was informed such pe ti tion could not be granted
<br /> without 'change- of Ordinance, and he 'proposed to bring in a ~etition from ~eople
<br /> along that Street asking for shorter parking time.
<br /> A Rooming House permit was granted to Mrs. Mollie Witb.her to operate the
<br /> Tourist Kotel at 70 East Broadway.
