<br />The fo~lowing persons, Mr. MelvinfHansen, ~~. Bovard, Stanley Stevenson,
<br />and. Mrs. Maxham, appeared before the Council representing the Garden Clubb of the
<br />City and the Ch~rrber of Commerce Committee on matters relating to Tourist Traffic,
<br />and proposed to the City Council that a provision be made granting permanent
<br />parking privileges to tourists ardund the City Park, and that they be allowed to
<br />beautify the grounds of the park. Cibe matter was referred to the Police and
<br />Street Committees for consideration and report back to the Council on February
<br />15, 1929. '

<br />Bids for pbinting blanks for use in the purchasing department were opened,
<br />and referred to the Printing Committee with power to act.
<br />
<br />Councilman Large placed the name of Mr. Garl G. Washburne in nomination as
<br />President of the Council. Motion was lThade, seconded, and -carried that he be
<br />elected, and Mr. Washburne was declared duly elected.

<br />Mr. Monroe, as chairman of the Police Commit tee recommended that some pl~ovision
<br />be made to take care of the department which Mrs. Ady has been conducting for
<br />distribution of chari ty, s.nd the Building Inspector was directed to provide some
<br />sa ti sfac tory arrangement for th i s department.
<br />
<br />Motion was made, seconded, and carried directing the granting of a petition
<br />for the pavement of Kincaid Street from 13th Avenue to 15th Avenue, and directing
<br />the City ~ngineer to prepare plans and specifications.
<br />
<br />On motion of the Street Committee, it was ordered that the City Engineer pre-
<br />pare plans and s ecifications for a bridge across the Amazon at Washington and
<br />Lincoln ~treets.

<br />pay roll, l' the Cit y, such recommendation al so including pay for the present
<br />Building Inspector and Assistant up to Febnuary 18, 19G9, Motion was made, second-
<br />ed that the appointment under the terms as stated be approved by the Council. The
<br />ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen voting aye, nay, none.
