<br />Council met in monthly session, aJ;ld was called to order by Mayor Wilder,
<br />all Councilmen present excepting Mr. Monroe.

<br />Minutes of the meetings of February 11, February 15, and February 25, 1929,
<br />appro ved.
<br />
<br />Mrs. Horton and Mrs. Brown appeared before the Counci! in the interest of
<br />Playground activities, ani urged that the Council dispense with the Auto Park baok
<br />of the Butte, and to vote the space to park and Playground facilities.
<br />
<br />Mr. Hansen, Dr. Bovard, and Mr. Shelton urged the Council to prov ide parking
<br />accomodations for tourists in the We,st park ai' the Public Sq,ua.re, ~d Councilman
<br />Washburne moved that the program ot,the Tourist Committee be adopted as a policy
<br />of the Council with the provision that the details and necessary ordinames be
<br />worked out in conjunction with the Street and Police Commit,tees. The motion was
<br />, seconded and carrie d. .

<br />Mr. A. L. Meyers appeared before the Council at the suggestion of the City
<br />Planning Commission, and outlined his idea of plans for the improvement of the
<br />Butte Park. Councilman Washburne reported for the Park Board the recommendation
<br />th~t the City purchase the plan and servioe of Mr. Meyers for beaatifying the
<br />Butte, inclUding the tract offered by F. L. Chambers at a oonsideration of $250.00.
<br />The motion was made, seconded and carried to adopt the recommendation.

<br />Chairman Washburne of the Judiciary Committee req,uested, and was granted
<br />further time for consideration of group insurance' for the City.
<br />
<br />The Finat1ce Commit,tee, by Chairaan Large, recommended for ps..vment the
<br />following bills: Motion was made, and seconded that the bills be allowed, and
<br />warran ts drawn to pay the saara. ,The ase s ani nays were called, all present voting
<br />aye, absent and not voting, Monroe.

<br />The mat ter of disposti on of the Eugene Auto Camp Grounds being cons.id ered
<br />,at this time, CouJ;lcilmi3.n Washburne reported that the Park Board were desirous of
<br />continuing the Auto Camp Grounds during the co@ing season wi th the assura.noe tha t
<br />the Council would not be asked for additional maintenance fUnds. The Ordinance
<br />repealing Ordinance No. 2965, entitled, !tAn Ordinance to regulate the use of tm
<br />Eugene Jt'uto,;,,<Camp Grounds, fixing compensation to be p3.id for its use, creating
<br />the of fie e of "Park Tender" and de1'ining his powers and duti es and pre scribing
<br />penalties for a violation of this Ordinance", was read the third time ,qand pihaoed
<br />, upon its final passage. The ayes ani nays were called, all present voting aye,
<br />absent and not voting, Monroe. The Ordiname w.as declared passed and numbered
<br />7~15 .

<br />The Fire & Water Coa~ittee, by Chairman Hendershott, recommended that a
<br />light be installed at the center of the alley betjween Charnelton and f!,!-1l~k01<nt~&.se~t
<br />and 7th and 8th Avenues. On motion, the recommendation was adopted.
<br />
<br />Chairman Zumwalt of ,the Health Committee reported the people of the City
<br />were giving serious consideration to the matter of cleaning up their premises,
<br />and their resPOnse was very .satisfactory. ,

<br />Ci t Y At torney Calkins reported some small bills agains t Mrs. Dunwoody were
<br />being presented to the City, and that the City had settled with Mrs. Dunwoody,
<br />and that the claims should be rejected. On motion, the recommdation was duly
<br />adopted.
<br />
<br />The Chairman of the Sewer Committee, A. A. Reid, and City Attorney S. M.
<br />Calkins submitted a recommendation that the appliC'ation or Sherman A. Young for
<br />permission to connect Lot 2, Block 1, Melrose Addition to a City sewer be denied.
<br />On moti on the r epo rt was duly adopt ed.

<br />The Street and Finan.ce Committees, by respective Chairmen, Mr. Lamb and
<br />'Mr. Large, submitted :&writ.ten resolution that the lawsuit of Alfred Olsen in
<br />the matter 01' opening 18th Avenue East be settled by allowing Alfred Olsen $1500.00
<br />damages' and waiving any claims for benefits, and that sald Alfred Olsen be paid
<br />by the City $1500.00. . Motion was made to adopt the resolution, and the ayes and
<br />n~s were called, all present voting 8.3'e, absent and not voting, Reid and Monroe.
