A delegation from the brotherhood from the various churches of the Ci ty appeared before the Council and asked that an ordinance pl"eventing the advertis- ing of cigarettes on bill, boards 'be passed by the Councilo Among those who spoke for the brotherhood were E. 111. Patterson, A. F. Wheeler, Mr. Wheldon, Mr. Trout, and Fram{ Needham. It was sugeested to the delegation t.hat if they would have the ir a tt orney take the matter up with the CityattoI'ne'y', the matter could be worked out along any possible legal line of procedure. A resolut ion from the Eugene Lodge B. P. O. E. No. ~?57 was read asking for the preservation of the Elk herd in Hendrick's Park illld the improvement of the quarter and feeding conditions. Charle s vVarnock repre sen t ing the American -' Legion also appeared on the sa~e sub jec t, and the Council expressed its apprec- iation for the interest taken by these organizations, and their assurance of cooperation.
