' ,- I~, ',M!, <br />r.~ <br /> <br />A petition was read asking that a street light be installed on Fairmount CQ <br />Bo~levard, between 19th and 20th Streets. Chairman Hendershott of the Fire and <br />Water Committee recommended that the petition be granted, and on motion was so <br />ordered. <br /> <br />A pe ti ti on fro!n property holders on Columbia S tree t 'between twen ty-third (23) <br />and Indiana Streets requesting permission to place the sidewalk next to the pave- <br />ment, elimina ting the parking bet ween sidewalk and cur'b, was re ferre d tot he <br />Street Commi ttee and Ci ty Engineer. <br /> <br />Chairman Monroe of the PGlice Committee reported that the committee had pur- <br />chased a Ford Phaeton for the police department, and that the police roadster <br />should be transferred to the Park department, and the Dodge Patrol wagon to the <br />Engineer's department, at appraised valu.ations to be' charged to these departments <br />and credited to the police department. <br /> <br />A communication from the miDc committee of the Lane County Medical Society <br />was .read and filed. <br /> <br />A request from the University of Oregon to place a marquise or roof over the <br />city alley at the Boy's Dormitory on Onyx Street between Fourteenth and Fifteenth <br />Avenues, to 'be about eighteen feet above street and for the purpose of a roof <br />protection in the loading of groceries, was on motion granted. <br /> <br />A request from the State Fire Chiefs' Association, that the City should <br />appropriate funds to send delegates to the annual 1930 convention at Corvallis. <br />was referred to the 'budget commi ttee. <br /> <br />'I A deed from Clara B. Spencer and J. D. Spencer to the City of Eugene of <br />property constituting a portion of Fourth Street West of Blair. which was tendered <br />to the City of Eugene ,was on motion ordered accepted and recorded. <br /> <br />A resolution and deed conveying to the City of ~ugene Lot 11, Block 1 of <br />Broadmead, from the Salvation Army was ordered accepted, and motion made and second <br />ed that a warrant for $50.00 be drawn in favor of the Salvation Army in payment <br />therefore. The ayes and nays were called, all present voting aye, absent Council- <br />men Simon and Reid and Councilman Large t'el11porarily excused from Council. <br /> <br />Report of t he Hob i Airwa,y"s Company, showing to tal rece1.9 t s for August in the <br />amount of $1,335.32 and 5% due City as $66.77, was read and filed. <br /> <br />A resolution from the Eugene Milk Producers' Association urging the enforce- <br />ment of the Eugene Milk Ordinance for the improvement of quality of milk and the <br />protection of producers was read and filed. <br /> <br />The agreement of McCully heirs providing for the paving assessments against <br />their property for the paving of Columbia Street was ordered ,accepted and filed. <br /> <br />A resolution declaring Emerald Street Opening from the South line of 24th <br />Avenue to the North line of 25th Avenue was read, and motion made, seconded, and <br />carried to adopt the same. The resolution is as follows: <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />IN THE I\l4.TTER OF THE OPENING AND E:':TENSION <br /> <br />OF EMERALD STREET FROM THE SOUTH LINE OF <br /> <br />24th AVENUE TO 'l'HE NORTH LINE OF 25th AVENUE <br /> <br />IN THE CITY OF EUGENE, OREGON. <br /> <br />1 Whereas, pursuant to the resolution of the Common Council passed June 10, <br /> <br />, 1929, said,council determined to open Emerald Street from the South line of 24th <br /> <br />Avenue to the North line of 25th Avenue, <br /> <br />And 'Nherea.s pur suant thereto the Ci ty Engineer filed a survey plat and <br /> <br />report of said proposed opening in the office of the City Recorder on June 10, <br /> <br />i929 , <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />
