<br />Mr. Lamb, Chairman of the Street Committee, reported a request from ~~s.
<br />Day and Mr. IVlaltman that the alley running North and South, West of the Post-
<br />Office property be named rfPost Office Drive." A motion was made, seconded, and
<br />carried that the alley be so designated.
<br />
<br />Mr. Lamb also stated that Hargreaves and Lindsay were anxious to have a
<br />partial payment on their Golumbia Street paving contract, whic_h cannot be completed
<br />until spring, and the recorder' was instructed to obtain an estimate from the
<br />Engineer of the amount he would recommend. for payment and advise the bonding
<br />company of the proposed payment for their approval.

<br />Chairman Zumwalt of the Health Committee reported that he had received bids or
<br />the Bacteriological Analysis of th~ milk for the City of Eugene as follows: Pac-
<br />ific Laboratories 35~ per sample with a minimum of one hundred samples per month,
<br />and 33 1/3~ for each sample over one hundred. H. H. Foskett 45~ per sample up to
<br />one hundred and 35~ for each additional sample. A motion of Mr. Zumwalt to award
<br />the contract to Pacific Laboratories was seconded and carried. '

<br />The November report from the Hobi Airways Company, and the December reports
<br />of the Public Library, Building Inspector, and the Health Officer, and the annual
<br />reports of the City Engineer and of the Building Inspector were read and placed
<br />on file. '

<br />A card from :Mrs. Isaac Lee Pat terson was read conveying to the members of
<br />the Eugene City Council her appreciation of the resolution recently passed on the
<br />death of Governor Patterson.

<br />An Ordinance cancelling a duplicate assessment against Lot 10, Block 2,
<br />Shelton's First Addition to the City of Eugene, Oregon, was read the first ~ime,
<br />and passed its second and third readings by title by unanimous consent under sus-
<br />pension of the rule, and was placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were
<br />called, all COWlcilmen voting aye, nay, none; a,bsent Washburne and Monroe. The'
<br />Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 7731.

<br />An Ordinance lev.ying assessmen ts for reassessing the paving of Madison S.treet
<br />from the South line of 8.th Avenue ,to the North line of Wes t Broadway, in the Ci ty
<br />of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, was read and due notices of hearing of objections
<br />having been given, objections were called for and none heard. No objections hav-
<br />ing been filed. the ordinance was read the second and third times by title by ~n-
<br />animous consent under suspension of the rule, and was placed on its final passage.
<br />The ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen voting aye, nay, none; absent Wash-'
<br />burne and Monroe. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 7732.

<br />Seven, Sidewalk Improvement Ordinances were read the first time, and passed
<br />their second and third readings byti tIe by unanimous consent under suspension of
<br />the rule, and was placed on their final passage. The ayes and nays were called,
<br />all Councilmen voting aye, nay, none; absent Washburne and Monroe. The Ordinance
<br />were declared passed and numbered from 77,33 to 7739, both numbers inclusive.

<br />One Sidewalk Assessment Ordinance was read and laid over.

<br />Bids for auditing the City books .were received as follows: Percy W. Brown
<br />$250.00; Horton and Tyson $252.00; Spencer Collins a per diem basis bid estimated
<br />cost $400 to $450. A motion was made, seconded, and carried to award the contrac
<br />to Percy W. Brown.
