The <br />ayes and nays were called, all present voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was <br />declared passed and numbered 7742. <br /> <br />Nine sidewalk improvea:ent Ordinances were read the second time and passed <br />their third reading by title by unanimous consent under suspensi on of the rule <br />and were placed on their final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all prese t <br />voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinances were declared passed and numbered from 774 <br />to 7751, both numbers inclusive. <br /> <br />An Ordinance prohibi ting the placing of foreign matter in the City sewers <br />or permitting the same to enter the City sewers, and providing for suitable means <br />for the preven tion thereof, and prov idlng a penalty was read the first time, and <br />passed its second and tr~rd readings by title by unanimous consent under suspensio <br />of the rule and was placed on its final passage. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbere <br />7752. <br /> <br />The recorder was instructed to take up with the United states Internal <br />Revenue Office the matter of securing a rental for their use of room in City Hall. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Chairman Washburne of the Judiciary Committee referred to the reQuest of <br />Etta Knight by Fred E. Smith for rebate of paving assessment on Alder street. A <br />general di scussion expressed the opposi tion of the council generally to this re- <br />Quest, but it was not considered necessary to take further action. <br /> <br />The reQuest of Night Patrolman Romaine that he furnish the repair parts <br />and the Ci ty furnish the labor to place in repair his private car, which he had <br />been using for City work, was on motion granted. <br /> <br />It was ordered that a resolution be prepared declaring the intention of the <br />Council to open 12th Avenue West from Willamette to Olive street. <br /> <br />A committee of Meat Sellers asked the Council to pass an ordinance limiting <br />the hours during which meat might be sold in the City of ],'ngene. The City <br />Attorney expressed the opinion that the City had no power t.o pass such an ordin- <br />ana e . <br /> <br />On motion the Council adjourned. <br /> <br />R. S.
