Lamb also reporte din regard to the proposal to set 'back.. the line of <br />11th Avenue from Willamette to Mill Street, and the Mayor advised that the City <br />Planning Commission is working on the plan for this street. <br /> <br />Mr. Lamb also reported as to the widening of Willamette Street from 11th <br />to 19th Street that while there was a majority opposed to the widening between <br />17th Street and 19th Street, that the committee would recommend that the remon- <br />strance be overruled and that the street be widened from 11th Street to 19th <br />Street, and a motion was made, seconded, and carried to adopt the recommendation. <br />." "~l <br /> <br />,..., <br /> <br />T"""" <br /> <br />M <br /> <br />.""",' <br /> <br />Mr. Lamb also recommended that the Ci ty purchase a new ford truck at a <br />net price bf $710.00. This price being based upon the City keeping the old bed <br />and turning in the old chassis on the new truck. Some discussion of advertising <br />for other bids was had, but the street committee favored the ford truck and on <br />motion seconded and carried the recommendation was adopted. <br /> <br />Chairman Hendershott of the Fire and Water Committee presented the recom- <br />mendation of Chief Nusbaum that the City purchase additional fire hydrants and <br />one thousand feet of additional fire hose, and on motion it was ordered that the <br />recommendation be adopted with the understanding that we buy six fire hydrants <br />at this time if they can be bought at the same rate as in one dozen lots. <br /> <br />The request of the O. K. Grill to extend their sign two feet farther in <br />the street was laid over pending the preparation of a new sign ordinance. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Monthly reports of Dr. S. M. Kerron, Health Officer, and of R. W. Rundlett, <br />Building Inspector, and of C. M. Lawrence, Milk Inspector, were read and filed. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the Public meeting transmitted to the Council, the <br />Mayor appointed with the approval of the Council the following committee to draft <br />an ordinance covering the production and distribution of milk and milk products <br />in the City of Eugene: <br />The City Board of Health <br />Mrs. C. E. Hunt, Pres. of Eugene Council of Parent Teachers Ass'n. <br />Mrs. Geo. P. Winchell, Pres. of the Federated Clubs <br />1~s. Thos. L. Ohlson, Eugene Farmers Creamery <br />Mr. R. B. Thompson, Representing Raw Milk Dists. <br />Mr. Geo. Gilmore, Sec. Eugene Milk Producers Assn. <br />1~. C. M. Lawrence, City Milk Inspector <br />Mr. E. G. Boehnke, Agricultural Committee of the Chamber of Commerce <br />1Tr. E. U. Lee, Representing the Public at Large <br />M:r. Milton M. Miller, To be asked to co-opera te wi th the above <br />Committee in an Advisory capacity. <br /> <br />Mr. Lawrence also recommended that warrants be drawn to J. K. Prall and <br />Charles Sovereign in the sum of $20.00 each as a rebate on over charge for 1929 <br />, license as milk distributors. A motion was made and seconded to allow said <br />warrants. The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none, <br />absent Monroe and Washburne. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Attorney presented the request of Lora Trachsel for relief on <br />accoun t of injuries caused by a fall on a broken sidewalk, and the mat ter was <br />r'eferred to the finance committee and City Attorney wi th povver to act. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hendershott, it was ordered that the City Engineer <br />proceed at once to the repair of city sidewalks. <br /> <br />The City Planning Commission, through Secretary S. M. Calkins, conveyed <br />to the city the recommendation that the following street openings be commenced <br />and prosecuted to completion: <br />Almaden from 2nd to 3rd Avenues <br />Broadway from Almaden to Chambers <br />Taylor from 5th to 6th Avenues <br />Tyler from 6th to 9th Avenues <br />Tyle~ frcm 5th Avenue to Blair Blvd. <br />High Street south of 20th Avenue to the Cit,y- LLni ts and further so as to <br />connect with the diagonal street. <br />Pearl Street south of 20th Avenue to the City Limits and further so as <br />to connect with the diagonal street. <br />24th from Alder to University <br />Potter and Kincaid to be extended from 23rd to 24th <br />Harris to be extended from 23rd to 25th. <br />Tyler, Taylor and Almaden to be extended from 12th to 13th. , <br />It is fur ther recommended to the Counci 1 by the Planning Commission that <br />. steps be taken to procure a park, the area lying between 14th and 16th. Avenues <br />and from the Alley West of Jefferson, to Madison Street as produced, making about <br />three square blocks, opening up the road and revising the Kizer Addi tion. .This <br />area is right East of the fair grounds. , <br /> <br />Motion was made, seconded, and carried to adopt the report. <br /> <br />~ <br />
