<br />Mr. Carl McClain, Water Superintendent, appeared before the Council to assure
<br />the cooperation of the Water and Light Department in the matter of the installatio
<br />of the boundary and flood lights, etc. at the municipal air-port, and stated that
<br />he roughly estimated the cost at about $6,600.00, and that the board will not be
<br />able to permanently finance this cost, but perhaps a plan could be worked out by
<br />which they could proceed with the installation and which the City could arrange to
<br />pay back the money in installments. The City Attorney advised that the City could
<br />not incur an indebtedness in excess of $:3000.

<br />The Recorder reported that the Prudential Savings &. Loan Assn. had paid into
<br />the treasurer $938 . 69 in full of taxes a:a.d liens on the Sou th 56 fee t of Lot 6,
<br />Block 17, Hendrick's Amended Addition, wld that deeds had been delivered from the
<br />City to this property. Also that the Seeurity Savings and Loan Assn. had paid the
<br />treasurer ;jp375.07 in full of taxes and liens against a tract in Block 25, Fairmoun ,
<br />and the following resolution authorizing deed was on motion adopted.

<br />,Whereas, the Ci t;.)T of 'Eugene purchased from La'rie County 'at Sheriff,'s sale the
<br />
<br />hereinafter described property, for the ~purpose of protecting the City's interest
<br />as a lien claimant in said property, and whereas the Security Savings and Loan
<br />Association, a corporation, holds a mortgage interest in said property, and has
<br />paid to the City of Eugene the total amount of the taxes and liens held by said
<br />Ci ty agai ns t said property, to-wi t the sum of $375.07, now there fore be it re-

<br />That the City of Eugene convey said property by deed to said Sec11ri ty Savings
<br />and Loan Assn. and that the Mayor and Recorder execute said deed in behalf of said
<br />City of Eugene. The said Property herein referred to being described as follows,

<br />Commencing 113.5 feet South from thl9 Northeast Corner of Lot numbered One in

<br />Block numbered Twenty-five of the original plat of Fairmount, in the City of

<br />alley, thence South along the East line of said alley 55 feet, thence East and
<br />parallel with North line 160 feet to the West side of Moss Street, and thence
<br />along the West side of Moss Street 55 feet to the place of beginning, being a part

<br />of Lot numbered one in Block numbered twenty-five, Original Plat of Fairmount,

<br />as platted and recorded in Eugene, Lane County, Oregon.

<br />Ci ty Engineer Clubb su'bmi t ted a pia t showing the propo sed ad jus tmen t wi th
<br />the Patterson Estate on account of the Amazon ditch, and the matter was referred
<br />to the City Attorney and City Engineer to take up with Mr. Patterson and see what
<br />kind of a settlement can be made and report it back to the Council.

<br />A petition for the paving of alleys in the block bounded by Oak and Pearl
<br />Streets and lOth and 11th Avenues was referred to the street committee.
<br />
<br />The request of the Jenning heirs that they be permitted to pay the principal
<br />sum of the sewer assessment and the interest be remitted on a certain lot at 4th
<br />and Tyler Streets, and the request of Edgar R. Means that an assessment for a side
<br />walk against his property and lolt 2, block 24, Fairmount in the sum of $40.00 be
<br />remitted were referred to the Judiciary Gommittee.

<br />An Ordinance to improve 24th Avenue from the West margin of Emerald Street to
<br />the West margin of Agate Street, in the City of Eugene, by grading and graveling
<br />the same, was read the fir'st time, and passed its second and third readings by
<br />title by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule, and was placed on its
<br />final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen voting aye, nay,
<br />none, absen t Monroe and Wash'burne. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered
<br />7757.
