<br /> Minutes of the regular monthly session of the Cornmon Council, held at 7:30 l
<br /> o'clock P. M., December 8, 1930, and in the absence of Mayor. Wilder and Carl G.
<br />~ Washburne, President of the Council, was called to order by Councilman E. Large,
<br /> with the following councilmen present: Simon, Lamb, Reid, Hendershott and Zumwalt.

<br /> Minutes of the regular meeting of November lOth, 1930, and of the adjourned
<br /> meeting of November 24th, 1930, were read and approved.
<br /> Councilman Hendershot t of the Finance Commi t tee .recommended that the City
<br /> purchase from Tucker Hunter Dulin & Co., out of sinking funds, $20,000 Multnomah
<br /> County School District No.1 4M& bonds, due April 15, 1942, on a basis of 4.10.
<br /> Motion was mdE', seconded, and carried to adopt the recommendation~ Motion was
<br /> also made, seoonded, and carried tha t the Ci ty Treasur er be aut hor ized to purchase
<br /> $1,000 of Gity of Eugene Sewer bonds for whiCh the finance committee has been
<br /> negotiating on a 4.40 basis, if the same can be had. .
<br /> The following bids were opened and read for the Grading and Graveling of
<br /> Indiana Avenue from Agate Street to Columbia Street:
<br /> Eugene Sand & Gravel Co. .$782.00
<br /> A. C. Ma1ihews 716.30
<br /> I Chairman Lamb of the street Committee moved that the council determine that the
<br /> bid of the A. C. Mathews is the lowest and best bid, and that the contract be
<br /> awarded in accordance therewi tho Motion was seconded and carried.
<br /> I The following bids were opened and read for the grading and graveling of
<br /> Taylor Street from Eighth Avenue to a point 231 feet North of Eighth Avenue:

<br /> Eugene Sand & Gravel Co. 650.77
<br /> Chainnan Lamb of the Street Committee moved that the coune i1 detennine that the
<br /> bid of the Eugene Sand & Gravel Co. is the lowest and best bid, and that the I
<br /> I contract be awarded in accordance therewith. Motion was seconded and carried.

<br /> The City Engineer, 1~. Clubb, reported that NePage-McKenny Co. had supplied
<br /> the balance of their contract on the Ornamental Street Lighting system and re-
<br /> I commended that the check for $560.00, held by the City for completion of this
<br /> I contract, be forwarded to them, and on motion it was so ordered.
<br /> I Reque st of 'Mrs. N. H. Signor. for permi ssion to cut down two Poplar tree sat
<br /> I 1463 Pearl Street was on motion granted.
<br /> I The Fire and Water Committee asked for futher time to report on the alley

<br /> Seven siciewalk Assessmen t Ordi nances were read the first time and laid over.
<br /> Councilman Hendershott moved that the City purchase a bear from John Carlile,
<br /> and that the Recorder pay him'$20.00 out, of the revolving fund when the bear is .
<br /> delivered. Motion is seconded and carried. 1,_ /
<br /> Ij The finance committee reported the following bills for payment and recol11lne.nd-
<br /> ed that they bE~ paid. The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen voting aye,
<br /> I nay, none, absent Monroe and Washburne.
