<br />Council met in regular monthly and annual session. Meeting was called
<br />to order at 7:30 o'clock P. M. by Mayor H. E. Wilder, with all Councilmen present
<br />except Washburne and Monroe.

<br />As per the call, bids we're opened for the construction of a certain
<br />sewer on the North side of Thirteenth Avenue from-Olive Street to 167 fee~ East
<br />of the East line of Gharne 1 ton Street as follows:

<br />Sa! d bids were referred to the Sewer Commi ttee for repor t and it re-
<br />commended the bid of E. N. Peterson at. $143.53 be accepted. On motion such report
<br />was adopted and the Mayor and Recorder were instructed to enter into a contraot
<br />with the successful bidder for such improvement work.

<br />City Attorney, S. M. Calkins, reported that the Judiciary Committee
<br />had met with the Springfield City Gouncil and after a fair dXscussion of the
<br />si tuation -had 'determined to recommend that the Council carry out the original
<br />intention of the City of Eugene, intended to be covered by its forty-nine year
<br />,lease, by executing a bargain and sale deed of the land in question to the Oity
<br />of Springfield, and ,that an ordinance would be subml tted later in this meeting
<br />for consideration.

<br />Chairman Large of the finance committee recommended that the Council
<br />approve the completion of the Stien Bros. contract on the Aviation Field, and
<br />that the first and final estimate of the City Engineer, allowing the con~ractor
<br />the total-of $19,098.04, be approved, and that the Recorder draw warrants in
<br />favor of the contractors for $14,000, being the amount available from taxation
<br />in the current year,- and also that a warrant be drawn on the aviation field fund
<br />in favor of the general fund for the sum of $945.90, representing Gity Engineer...
<br />ing charges against thil;3 improvement, with the understanding that this warrant
<br />is to be held by the City Treasurer 'and not to bear interest. A motion was made
<br />and seconded to adopt the recommendation. ~he ayes and nays were called, all
<br />present voting aye, nay, none, absent Washburne and Monroe.
