~ 38 '. ~r cxr, Five Sidewalk Assessment Ordinances were read the f'irst time and laid over. ~""- An OrwLnance establishing the position of all municipal structures on Taylor Street In the Ci ty tlllf Eugene, between 6th Avenue West and 8th Avenue West was read the first time, and passed its second and third readings by title by unanimous C()nSE~nt under suspension of the L'llle, and was placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all present voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8003. An Ordinance directing the Mayor and Oi ty Recorder of the Cit.y of Eugene to execute on behalf of the City, a bargain and sale deed to the Town of Spring- fie ldf'or the 'two hundred and fifty-nine acres of land known as the terminal property at SpJ~i.ngf'ield, res~.rving a five acre ,park site was read .the first time , and,passed' its second and t.hird readings by title by unanimous consent under sus- pension of the rule, and was placed on its, f'inal passage. Chairm.an Lamb of' the street Committee reported that the fill had been c omple t ed along the Mill Race Eas t of the Anchorage, and that a curb plank should be installed, and the fill was proving very sa tisfac tory., The question of whether the recommendation of the Budget Committee that an additional patrol car be purchased or that two extra policemen be continued during the next three months was discussed. Councilman Reid moved .that the matter be referred to the Police Committee with power to act, which motion was withdrawn, there being no second, and the motion was made that the two extra policemen be laid off and their salaries be paid ou,t of the. emergency fund by the recorder for the time due them.
