<br />Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Common Council, held at the hour
<br />of 7:30 o'clock P. M., April 27th, 1931. There were present Mayor H. E. Wilder
<br />and all members of the Council. Meeting called to order by the Mayor.
<br />
<br />Mr. Strathouse of the Eugene "Neon Sign Company requested permission to
<br />put in a neon sign at the Blaneys Billard Parlors on Willamette Street, the
<br />question involved being the position of the sign under the sign ordinance. Action
<br />was continued until later in the meeting.
<br />
<br />A petition prohibiting the parking of taxi cabs along Willamette Street
<br />curbs vms read and referred to the POlice Committee.

<br />Councilman Simon moved that the restriction on wood peddlers be extended
<br />.bo include the third zone, and that an ordinance be pr'epared for that purpose.
<br />Motioncwas seconded and carried.
<br />
<br />Councilman Zumwalt recommended that it did not seem opportune to change
<br />the fees under the milk ordinance at pl"esent. He also called attention to the
<br />nuisance from smoke and cinders in the Ci ty from smoke stacks, but as no remedy
<br />was apparent it was suggested that we might check up with what other cities are
<br />doing in such cases.
<br />
<br />The Street Committee, City Attorney, and City J.lJngineer reported adversely
<br />upon the request of George Korn for the release of his property from the assess-
<br />men t s f'or the i mpr' ovemen t of Viet aria Bl vd., and on mo ti on see onded and carried
<br />the report was adopted.

<br />The report of Hobi Airways Company for the month of March was read and
<br />
<br />A telegram from F. M. Wilkins, Chairman of the Park Board ,pro te st ing the
<br />moving of the 1:Glk to Skinners Butte and moving of shrubbery was presented to the
<br />Rfuyor and Council.
<br />

<br />Request of property owners for the changing of the name of Indiana Avenue
<br />to 26th Avenue East was referred to the City Planning Commission.
<br />
<br />A communication relating to the opening of the alley between Monroe and
<br />Adams Streets was referred to the City ~ngineer.
<br />
<br />The following resolution was offered b;,y the Finance Committee:

<br />Resolved that the City Treasurer be authorized and instructed to cancel
<br />of record the lien for a sidewalk on the East side ofV:an Buren Street between
<br />3rd and 4th ~treets as shown 'in Volume J, page 196, line 7, and Recorder's
<br />Lien Docket 5, page 458, the same being against Lot 7, Block 8, Sladden IS 3rd
<br />Addi t ion.
