<br />objections filed by the Eugene Woolen Mills Company and Eugene Mill and Elevator

<br />Councilman Lamb moved that the City rejeot the report of the Viewers, and
<br />that the StreetCommi ttee take up the question of adjustment betw~en the property
<br />owners and see if anything oan be done to reach an agreement between the parties
<br />int~rested in the opening of Fifth Avenue East from the East line of Lot 8, Block
<br />10, Original Plat of Eugene to the Center line of Mill ~treet if produced South
<br />in Eugene, Or1egon, and. in the opening of Mill Street from the Sou.:th line of Lot
<br />5, Block 10, Original :Plat of ~gene to the North line of Fifth Avenue if P1."O-
<br />duced East in Eugene, Oregon. Motion was seconded and carried.

<br />. The report of City $ngineer Clubb on the proposed alley opening between
<br />Monroe and Adams Streets was read, and a motion was made, seconded, and carried
<br />to table the petition indefinitely~

<br />An Or~inance prohibiting the use cf the streets, sidewalks and doorways
<br />within the limits of Fire Zones Nos. 1, 2, and 3 in the City of Eugene, for the
<br />sale of goods, wares and merohandise or for the display of anything for sale or
<br />for amusement in such places was read the first time, and passed its second and
<br />third reading by title by unanimous consent under susp~nsion of the rule, and
<br />was placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all Councilmen
<br />voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8042.

<br />of the rule, and were placed on their final passage. The ayes and nays were
<br />called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinances were declared passe
<br />~nd numbered consecutively from 8043 to 8045, both numbers inclusive.

<br />An invitation from the City of Grants,Pass inviting the Mayor to be
<br />present at the dedication of the Bridge over, the Rogue River was read, and a moti
<br />was made, secc~ded, and carried authorizing the 1~yor to represent the City of
<br />Eugene on this ocassiQn.

<br />A communication from Chairman F. M. Wilkins of the Park Board protesting
<br />~he construotion~of the. Elk Pen and Moving of Elk was read. No aation was
<br />taken at this time, it being the understanding that the Mayor will call a meet-
<br />ing of the members of the Park Board to consider this question before the next
<br />Qouncil meeting. .

<br />~. George H; MoMor~an and Attorney Edward Bailey appeared before the
<br />Counci 1 to ask for an appropria tion of $250.00 to meet a defioiency in t he Sal~
<br />~a tion Army tunds incurred in unemployment relief during the win ter.' The matter
<br />was referred to the Finance Committee and City Attorney, with the suggestion that
<br />they also conf'er with JUdge Barnard.
