The ayes and nays were called, <br />all'Councilman voting aye, nay, none. <br /> <br />A Lease Agreement between the' City of Eugene and the United States of <br />America was presented, and the following resolution read: <br /> <br />~~.;.., <br /> <br />rt <br /> <br />aESOLUTION <br /> <br />I <br />, <br />I <br />.. <br />I <br /> <br />Be it Resolved that the City of Eugene by its Mayor and Recorder be <br />and are hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Eugene <br />in quadruplicate the lease submitted by the Treasury Department of Washington <br />D.C. for the lease of a room in the City Hall Building for the use of the <br />United States ~nternal Revenue Collector. <br /> <br />rr <br /> <br />Motion was made and seconded and unanimously carried to adopt the resolution. <br />Report of the Library Board for the month of April was read and filed. <br /> <br />An Ordinance adjusting and settling a certain assessment for the cost <br />of constructing a cement sidewalk along the East side of Willamette Street from <br />16th Avenue to Hospi tal Dri ve, ha ving been read the first time on May 11th, 1931, <br />was read the second time and objections called for. Mike Dewey appeared before <br />the Gouncil objecting to any assessment against his property. On motion the ob~ <br />jection was over-ruled and there being no further objections, the ordinance was <br />read the third time and placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were <br />called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. The ayes and nays were called, <br />all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinances were declared passed and <br />numbered consecutively from 8047 to 8053, both numbers inclusive. <br /> <br />Eighty-six sidewalk improvement Ordinances were read the first time, <br />and passed their second and third readings by title by unanimous consent under <br />suspension of the rule, and were placed on their final passage. The ayes and <br />nays were called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinances were <br />declared passed and numbered consecutively from 8054 to 8139, both numbers <br />inclusi ve. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Wilder reported that he had attended the dedication of the bridge <br />at G.rants Pass as a representative of the City of Eugene, and reported briefly <br />the proceedings of that ocassion. <br /> <br />At this time Mayor Wilder retired from the meeting, and E. Large, <br />President of the Council, presided over the remainder of the session. <br /> <br />An Ordinance providing for the grading and graveling of the alley <br />running East between Broadway and Eleventh Street and South between Patterson <br />and Hilyard Streets was read the first time, and passed its second and third <br />readings by title by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule, and was <br />placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen voting <br />aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8140. <br /> <br />An Ordinance approving and adopting the plans and specifications of <br />the Oi ty Engineer for the improvement of the alley running East between Broadway <br />and Eleventh Street and South between Patterson and Hilyard Streets by grading <br />and graveling the same was read the first time, and passed its second and third <br />readings by title by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule, and was <br />placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays were called, all councilmen voting <br />aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered 8141. <br /> <br />A communication from Eugene Lodge No,. 357 B.. p. O. J,i;., asking the Cit,y <br />to waive the license on the Levitt-Brown-Huggins Shows for the six day periOd <br />beginning June 15th and ending June 20th, was read, and motion made, seconded <br />and carried to grant the request. <br /> <br />Councilman Edwards, as Council member of the Park Board, reported that <br />the Park Board had met and discussed the question of the use of the Skinner's <br />Butte .:Elk Pen and had decided that nothing would be done at the present time, but <br />that next fall they would move the deer to the small pen on Skinner's Butte, and <br />that the Elk would be moved to the pen on the North side of the road in Hendrick's <br />Park, and the South side would be made available for other park purposes.
