<br /> and repealing all ordinance andlor parts of ovdinances in conflict therewith" was

<br /> ment was confirmed by the qouncil.
<br /> II ,Councilman Simon reported the unpleasant noises caused by the mufflers
<br /> I of the Motor Buses on the street, and the City Recorder and Councilman :aond were
<br /> authorized to take steps to abate this nuisance.
<br /> 11 ~ounci~an Simon also outlined to the Council his plan ror the care of
<br /> unemployed persons during the coming winter, particularly recommending a plan by
<br /> I which able bodied men could be employed in cutting cord wood upon a tract of-
<br /> Wood land to be a,cquired by the Ci ty, the men to be paid at a fixed rate per aord
<br /> and the City to be reimbursed by later sale of this wood. The general situation
<br /> as to unemployment and charity for the winter was discussed and a general desi.re
<br /> expressed that something along the lines indicated should be worked out for the
<br /> coming winter. No definite action was taken and the matter continued for fUrther .
<br /> I plans.
<br /> I Mr. Lew Swanger from the Central Labor Gouncil also discussed the question
<br /> of unemployment.
<br /> I A claim of Jack Dawson for medical services on account of a case of poison
<br /> oak contracted in the course of employment was ordered disallowed.
