An Ord.inance levying assessments for paving Ohula Vista Boulevard from the North line of Indiana Avenue to a line 227.4 feet North of Indiana Avenue, in ., the Oi ty of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, having been read the first time on ..... Whereupon said ordinance is read the second and third times by title by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule, and is ~I placed on its f'inal passage. An Ord,inance l'egulating the el'ection, construction, maintenance and light~ ing of outdoor signs and banners wi thin the cor porat e limi ts of the Oi ty of Eugene and fixing pena.l ties for viola tion thereof', and declaring an emergency was read the second and third time and placed on its final passage. The 'ayes and nays are called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinance is declgred passed and numbered 8281. On request of the Th~yor, he was authorized to use city gas without charge in his work of supervising the present unemployment program. . Chairman Simon of the Police Gommi ttee presen ted a request of a 'considel'ab e number of business houses in the factory and railroad section, asking for two addi tional policemen, '~and moved that the ci ty employ two addi tional nigh t pa trolmen until March 1st and pay them out of the emergency fund. Motion was seconded and carried. Mr. ~unw{alt moved a reconsideration of this motion which was seconded and carried, and further consideration of this question was deferred. The Dollar Taxi Cab Company asked for location of a stand at 13th and Al de r S t re e t s . The matter was referred to the Police Committee. ~n Ordinance permitting the operation of golf courses, telwas COUl'ts and bowling alleys, and the playing of tennis, golf and bowling in the Ci ty .of Eugene on Sunday, repealing all ordi.nances and pal'ts of ordinances in conflict herewith, and declaring an emergency, was read the second time, and motion was m~de by Mr, Zumwal t that hhe same be laid on the table. c The motion was los t by a vot'e thl'ee to five.
