N. Elliott, as tender <br />of the City garbage ground, was refer'red to Hr. Zurm-valt, Chairman of the Heal.th <br />Committee. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Chai rm8.n Reid of the Sewer Commi ttee recommended the bill of William- <br />son & Co. against Dr. S. W. Moody, which had been referred to the City for :'payment~ <br />be not allowed by the City. The recoil1111endation was on motion adopted. <br /> <br />Communica tion of the Eugene Central Labol" Council against the employ- <br />ment of marx'ied women was read and filed. <br /> <br />Building Inspector's report and Police report for month of January <br />were read and filed. <br /> <br />Atten tion of the Council vms called to the convention of the Leag'Ue <br />of Oregon Ci ti es at the Uni ve rsi by of Ol"egon on February 26 th and 27 the <br /> <br />The Recorder presented the following matters to the Council: <br />Attorney James K. King offerred to pay the City the full amount of <br />liens and interest and taz:es and all court costs in the mattel~ of Lots 23, 24-, and <br />25 in Block 27 of Fairmount Heights Addition to Eugene, with the understanding <br />that the pending &lit shall proceed to judgment, and the City execute a deed to <br />the mortgagee, represented by Mr. King. Motion was made, seconded, and carried <br />that the City accept this proposal. <br /> <br />Mr. E. L. Whisler offerl'ecl to deed his interest in Lot 10, Block 6, <br />Shelton's First Acldi tion to the CitYt including the abstl'act as mw held by him, <br />for the sum Of~250.00. l.Iotion was made and seconded that hi S offer be accepted, <br />and the aye sand :nays \;vere called, all councilmen voting aye, nay, none. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Recorder presented the request of Stanle;:l Stevenson to pux'chase from <br />the Gi ty the Sou th nine feet of a tract of land on Fairmoullt BIITd., being a part <br />of Lots 5 and 6 in Block 30, Fairmount; ].11". Stevenson agreeing to pay 9/60th of <br />the entire assessments and taxes and interest, constituting the investment of the <br />Ci ty in said tract. The amount of said portion to be paid by 1\11'. Stevenson is <br />$96.38. The motion was marIe, seconded, and carried that the proposal be accepted, <br />and that the Mayor and Recordel~ be and are authorized to execute a deed for this <br />property. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />The claim of Mrs. Lizzie Carter for $2,000.00 damages for alleged <br />personal injuries, by reason of a fall on the siclewall{ at the LJortheast corner <br />of 11th and Oak Streets as presented to the Council by communication of Fred E. <br />Smith, Attorney, was referred to the Judiciary Committee and City Attorney. <br /> <br />The Eugene Building Congress by Earl M. Drew, President, oi'ferl'e<l 'i ts <br />friendly coopel'a ti on on any sugge s ti ons, including che ck: of building code, in which <br />the Building Congress could be helpful. On motion the Council exp.ressed its <br />appreciation and desire to take advillltage of this offer as occasion may arise. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br />
