<br /> ,.:.-; hour of 7:30 olclock P. M., July 27, 1932. Council was called to order by
<br /> Mayor Elisha Large, with all Councilmen present except Zumwalt and Reid.
<br /> A committee consisting of Frank Metzger, Elmo Chase, and Lee Turner,
<br /> representing the fruit and vegetable dealers, appeared before the Council call-
<br /> ing attention to the unfair Q'ompetition of foreign dealers dumping culls and
<br /> low grade produc:ts in the local market, and requested tbe Council to appoint
<br /> the City Attorney to cooperate wi th their commi ttee in drafting a sui table
<br /> o.rdinance to meet t,his sit,uation. On motion, duly seconded and carried, the
<br /> request was e-:-ranted.

<br /> At t.his time bids a.re .recei ved f.rom the Fi.rst lIational Bank fo.r the
<br /> pu.rchase of ~?30,681.53 Improvement Bonds, Se.ries uA_JIt, as follows:

<br /> the date of the bonds; said bonds to be in- denominations of $500. or $1,000. and
<br /> draw interest at the rate, of' 5 3/4% per annum payable semi-annually.

<br /> I determines tr.~t the bids submitted are the only hids for the purchase of the

<br /> respecti ve bonds, and that the price bid is satisfactory, and that the Council
<br /> award the sale of said bonds to said bidders in accordance wit.h the terms of

<br /> The statement of ~ills: for the Eugene Public Library for the months
<br /> of l,iay and: June were placed on file.
<br /> Chairman Hendersh0tt of the Finance Committee moved that the City
<br /> Treasurer be instructed t.o purchase for siriking fund purposes all General warrant ,
<br /> and that this be a continuing order until rescinded by the Council. Motion was
<br /> seconded, and. on aye and nay vote all Councilmen pre sent vot.ing aye, nay, none,
<br /> absent: Zumwalt..
<br /> At the requ.est of Attorney Ed Bailey, representing Raymond Perdew, the
<br /> I Recorder presented to the Council the proposal of Mr. Bailey that Mr. Perdew
<br /> is the ovr.ner of the West 110 feet of the South 35 feet of Lot 8, Huddlestons
<br /> Addition, and the West 110 feet of Lot 13, Block 1, Ch~l~ers Addition, and that
<br /> Mr. Perdew is securing a soldiers loan upon thi s property and tha t from the -I
<br /> proceeds of the loan they agree to pay all existing city liens and accrued in-
<br /> terest to the City, and that there is an unassessed claim of the City against
<br /> said propert~l for, principle and interest due for sidewallc construction, aggregat-
<br /> I ing at this time $92.36, for which sum said Raymond Perdew agrees to give his
<br /> note to t.he City to bear interest at 6% per annum and to be payable at the rate
<br /> of $5.00 per month until :va.id in full, and tha t the pending loan cannot be nego-
<br /> tia ted exc ept in thi s manne r. Chairman Hendershott of the Finance Committee
