Johansen, as garbage hauler, executed by the new <br />Amsterdam Casualty Company, was on motion approved. <br /> <br />A communicati on from L. R. Stockman, Consult ing Engineer of Baker, Oregon, <br />was read and placed on file. <br /> <br />e: <br /> <br />The proposition of C. L. Kelly, Manager of the Miner Building, that the City <br />should contribute part of the cost of maintaining a Ladies Rest Room, was on <br />motion tabled. <br /> <br />pomplaints of Ewe~ Transportation Co. and the Comnercial Car Repair Shop <br />and Storage regarding a walnut tree in the alley between Oak and Pearl and Fifth <br />and Sixth were read and Councilman Edwards reported the previous action of the <br />Park Board granting a temporary continuance of the tree under the erroneous <br />impression that there was no travel through this alley. Councilman Lamb moved <br />that the Council direct immediate removal of this tree as a nuisance and menace <br />to traffic. Motion was seconded and carried. <br /> <br />Communication to Mayor Large regarding ~1e status of projects under the <br />Reconstruct ion Finance Corpora ti on and t he me thods of handline; and financing any <br />City projects was read before tp.e Council and filed. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />An Ordinance declaring the intention of the Corr~on Council of the City of <br />E'u.geneto make a l~eassessment of the cost of paving Washington Street from 13th <br />Avenue West to 19th Avenue livest in the Ci ty of 1u,gene, as the same abuts the <br />properties hereinafter described, and fixing a time and place for holding a <br />meeting of the Co~non Council at which all protests against such reassessment <br />shall be heard, and directing the giving of notices, was read the first time and <br />passed its second and third readings under suspension of the rule by unanimous <br />consent of the Council, and was placed upon its final pa~sage. The ayes and nays <br />were called, Councilmen voting aye 7, nay none, absent Scobert. The Ordinance <br />was declared passed and numbered 8333. <br /> <br />An Ordinance declaring the inte.ntion of the Common Council of the City of <br />Eugene to make a reassessment of the cost of constructing a sewer in the alley <br />between Lawrence Street and Washington Street, from 15th Avenue West to 19th <br />Avenue West, in the City of Eu@9ne, as the same benefits the properties here- <br />inafter described, and fixing a time and place for holding a meeting of the <br />Common Council at which all protests against such reassessment shall he heard, <br />and directing the giving of notices, was read the first time and _Dassed its <br />second and third readings under suspension of the rule by unanimous consent of <br />the Council, ~~d was placed upon its final passage. The ayes and nays were called <br />C ounc ilrnen voting aye 7, nay none, a b sent Sco be.rt. rrhe O.rdinance was declared <br />passed and numbered 8334. <br /> <br />-.' <br /> <br />On motion seconded and carried Councilman Zumwalt was authorized to purchase <br />eight tons of hay for feeding the Elk in the City Park. <br /> <br />City Engineer Clubb reported his investigation of the installation of a steel <br />flag pole in the cupola of the City Hall Building, and on motion, seconded and <br />carried, was au thorized to make such installat ion. <br /> <br />On motion the Council adjourned to meet June 26th at 7:30 olclock P. u. <br /> <br />R.
