Minutes of the regular meeting of July lOth, and the adjourned meeting of <br /> July. 24th, were read and approved. <br /> . Mr. J. C. Wooley presented a J?etition ob,jecting to the open ditch at 25th and <br /> Uni versi ty S tree t s, and reque s ted -that the Cit y enclos e the same. rfhi s was re-ferre <br /> to t,he En~ineer and Stree t Commi ttee. 0 <br /> . <br /> . Mr. Gordon Wells representing the garbag,e haulers explained that the garbage. <br /> haulers wished to conform to the N. R. A. wage scale, and asked that the maximum <br /> pri ce whi ch the garbage haulers are allowed t,o charge for resident ial collec t ions <br /> .~ be increased from the present charge of 50)1 to 75)1 01' ~~l.OO per month. This was <br /> referred to the Health Committee. <br /> c . <br /> A shed and warehouse has been constl"ucted by Mr. Somers on 13th Street between <br /> Charnelton and Lincoln Streets, and is being used as a night receiving station for <br /> truck haulers. Mr. Long representing the residents in that neighborhood made a <br /> protest on account of the noise and cOlnffiotion there during the night. This matter <br /> was ref.Ejrred to the Chief of Police to investigate and report back. <br /> Both Mr. Montgomery of the Pacific Hospital, and ~w. M. T. Warlick of the <br /> Eugene Hospital spoke regarding the contract for the State Industrial Accident <br /> Commission, but no action was taken by the Council. <br /> Attorney Calkins said that Ww. Garrett had called him and said the residents 0 <br /> Fairmount District would like to re-name the Pa~k back of Skinner's Butte to Eugene <br /> Skinner's Par}\:, and said if there was no objection from the Council that he would <br /> circulate a petition and present it at the next meeting of the Council. Mr. <br /> Calkins was instructed to notify Mr. Garrett that this would be suitable to the <br /> I Council. <br /> At this time 1w. Hendershott appeared in Council. <br /> Chairman Hendershott of the Finance Commi t tee reJ)orted the following bills to <br /> the Council with recommendation that they be allowed, and motion was made and <br /> seconded that warrants be drawn for same.
